Safety

01

IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

This manual is designed according to UL 962 Standard for Household and Commercial Fur-
nishing and contains safety instructions. The operator of the product is obligated to read this 
manual. The individual persons themselves are responsible to observe the safety instructions. 

Furthermore, important notes about accident prevention can be found here. 

GENERAL SAFETY INFORMATION

Generally, the following safety regulations and obligations are valid when handling the system:

 

▪ The system may only be operated in proper working condition.

 

▪ It is forbidden to remove, change, bridge, or bypass any protection, safety or monitoring 

devices.

 

▪ It is forbidden to reconstruct or modify the system without written approval by the supplier.

 

▪ Only genuine spare parts may be used for repair.

 

▪ All repair work must be performed by authorized personnel only.

 

▪ All protection, safety and monitoring devices have to be checked regularly by the oper-

ator and maintained 

 

▪ The national employee protection regulations and the national safety and accident pre-

vention regulations are valid.

 

▪ Only perform hardware changes in de-energized state (it does not matter if it is the power 

cable, remote control or other components).

 

▪ Always make sure no children, animals are in the proximity of the bed when operating it.

 

▪ Ensure no person or object is in the way of moving parts (e.g. night stand or open window).

 

▪ Do not sit on any of the moving parts when operating the bed (laying on the bed flat is ok).

INTENDED USE

The Yaasa Adjustable Bed may solely be used for the intended use according to this  documentation. 

The Yaasa Adjustable Bed is an electrically controlled bed base. It is operated by a remote control. 
Additionally, it contains one USB module on each side to charge mobile devices such as smart 
phones or tablet PCs. It is designed for indoor use only. Outdoor use is forbidden. This bed is not 
suitable for potentially explosive atmosphere.

HOSPITAL / MEDICAL DISCLAIMER:

This bed is NOT designed for hospital or medical use (in-home or commercial) and is NOT 
 designed to meet medical or hospital standards. Do not use this bed with TENT TYPE oxygen 
therapy equipment or use near explosive gases.

This bed may only be used with a suitable mattress. All used mattresses shall comply with the 
 Federal Register 16 CFR Part 1633. Check with your mattress manufacturer if it is compatible 
with electrically adjustable beds. This bed is not suitable for water bed mattresses. It is not in-
tended to be used without a mattress.

This system is intended to be assembled and used by adults only. It is not designed for children 
or animals. 

The recommended weight limit (including mattress) is 700 lbs evenly distributed across the bed. 
The head and foot sections of this product are not designed to individually support or lift this 
amount of weight. For optimal performance, consumers should enter and exit the adjustable base 
only when it is in flat (horizontal) position. Avoid placing entire weight on head or foot section, es-
pecially when in elevated position. Do not stand on the base at any time. Note: Exceeding the rec-
ommended weight restrictions could damage the product and void the warranty.

Any usage other than described in this manual is only allowed after written consent by   
Yaasa Studios. 

Unintended use or improper operation can result in personal injury and/or damage to the system.

Furthermore, liability and warranty claims become void in case of unintended use. 

REASONABLY FORESEEABLE MISUSE

The Yaasa Adjustable Bed shall not be used in the following way:

 

▪ Do not use the bed as a climbing aid.

 

▪ Do not jump on the bed.

 

▪ Do not let children or animals climb on or under the bed.

 

▪ Do not use the bed without a mattress.

TARGET GROUP AND PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE

This manual is addressed to adults. The following conditions are necessary:

 

▪ Basic technical knowledge.

 

▪ Ability to lift the components.

 

▪ Reading and understanding this manual.

SIGNAL WORDS USED IN SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

DANGER

 

Imminent danger to life of persons

A safety notice containing the signal word DANGER indicates an imminent danger for life and 
limb of persons!
Failure to observe these safety instructions can result in death or serious damage.

WARNING

 

Danger of injury to persons (serious injury) and in addition possible material damage.

A safety notice with the signal word WARNING indicates a dangerous situation which could have 
consequences for the health of persons!
Non-compliance with these safety instructions can result in serious injury.

NOTICE

 

This icon with the word NOTICE indicates the availability of supporting information for installation, 
operation and maintenance. Non-observation of these references may lead to property damage.

CAUTION

 

Danger of personal injury (minor injuries) and in addition possible material damage 

A safety instruction with the signal word CAUTION indicates a potentially dangerous situation. 
Non-compliance with these safety instructions can result in minor injuries.

 

▪ Do not overload the bed (max. 700 lbs evenly distributed).

 

▪ Do not continuously move parts of the bed up and down.

NOTICE

 

The bed is not designed for continuous operation.                                                                                                  
Wait one minute after each complete driving cycle.

RESIDUAL RISKS

Although the highest diligence was taken during construction and assembly of the system and 
all safety relevant issues were observed, some risks that were evaluated in a risk analysis may re-
main. In this chapter, all residual risks and warnings which result from the risk analysis are listed. 

Read all instructions before using this bed.

DANGER

 

To reduce the risk of electric shock:
Always unplug this bed from the electrical outlet before cleaning.

WARNING

 

Do not immerse any connection cables or any parts of the bed in liquid.

WARNING

 

To reduce the risk of burns, fire, electric shock, or injury to persons:
1.  Unplug from outlet before putting on or taking off parts.
2.  Close supervision is necessary when this bed is used by, or near children, invalids or disabled 

persons.

3.  Use this bed only for its intended use as described in these instructions. Do not use attach-

ments not recommended by manufacturer.

4.  Never operate this bed if it or any parts has a damaged cord or plug, if it is not working prop-

erly, if it has been dropped or damaged, or dropped into water. Return the bed for examina-
tion and repair or replace it.

5.  Keep cord away from heated surfaces.
6.  Never drop or insert any object into any opening.
7.  Do not use outdoors.
8.  Do not operate where aerosol (spray) products are being used or where oxygen is being ad-

ministered.

9.  To disconnect, turn all controls to the off position, then remove plug from outlet.
10. Risk of injury – keep children away from extended foot support (or other similar parts).
11. Risk of electric shock – connect this furnishing to a properly grounded outlet only. See Ground-

ing Instructions.

WARNING

 

This bed can withstand maximum evenly distributed load of 700 lbs. Do not overload the sys-
tem under any circumstances. Neither foot or head rest can withstand the maximum load alone.

WARNING

 

Sitting on moving parts is forbidden as it may lead to property damage and injury. It is ok to lay 
on the bed during movement.

CAUTION

 

If children are present, child lock must be activated.

DANGER

 

It is forbidden to crawl under the bed. Moving parts can lead to serious injury or death.

Never reach under the bed during operation. Moving parts may lead to serious injury or death.

CAUTION

 

It is forbidden to store foreign objects under the bed.

WARNING

 

Make sure no foreign objects (e.g. nightstand or window) are in the way when operating the bed.

CAUTION

 

Do not grab the side rails by moving parts. Always grab them by the rigid frame.

CAUTION

 

Do not tilt the assembled bed upright to move it.

WARNING

 

Disconnect the power supply before connecting or disconnecting any components. Otherwise 
electrical hazards might arise.

ELECTRICAL GROUNDING

GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS

This product is for use on a nominal 120-volt circuit and has a grounding plug that looks like the 
plug illustrated in sketch A (see below). A temporary adapter that looks like the adapter illustrated 
in sketches B and C can be used to connect this plug to a 2-pole receptacle as shown in sketch 
B if a properly grounded outlet is not available. The temporary adapter should be used only un-
til a properly grounded outlet (sketch A) can be installed by a qualified electrician. The rigid ear, 
lug, or the like extending from the adapter must be connected to a permanent ground such as 
a properly grounded outlet box cover. Whenever the adapter is used, it must be held in place by 
a metal screw.

Dear Customer,

Thank you for choosing a product from Yaasa.  

With the Yaasa Adjustable bed you have a product that meets all safety requirements.

Wrong or unintended installation or use of the system might lead to several dangers. In chapter 
1 “SAFETY” and by safety notes in the entire manual we point out various dangers which might 
appear.

This manual shall enable persons to assemble and operate the system safely. 

Following the notes and warnings in this document helps avoid dangers and damage of the sys-
tem. All persons working at and with the system must have the manual available when perform-
ing tasks at and with the system. Furthermore, they must follow the relevant data and notes. The 
manual must always be complete and legible.

Yaasa Studios Inc. assumes no liability either for technical or printing errors nor for deficiencies

The Yaasa Adjustable Bed is delivered in two boxes with all functional components and tools 
to fully assemble and operate the system. Upon opening the packaging make sure all listed 
parts are included and in perfect condition. In an unlikely case of parts being damaged or 
missing please contact Yaasa (chapter 2 INTRODUCTION). Make sure the boxes are stored 
horizontally in a dry place at room temperature.

A

NECESSARY TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT

The Yaasa Adjustable Bed is intended to be built by two adults. No additional tools or equipment 
is necessary. All needed tools are included. Make sure enough space is available to manipulate 
all parts during assembly. Slightly more space than the finished bed requires is recommended 
for the assembly process. 
All important steps, parts and movements are shown with grey indicators.

UNBOXING AND LAYING OUT THE MAIN PARTS

Lay both boxes flat on the ground with the graphic and logo facing up. Carefully open all boxes 
and check its content as described in chapter 3 BOX CONTENTS.

NOTICE

 

Do not use a knife or sharp objects to open the boxes as it may lead to damage of the product.

NOTICE

 

Before starting the assembly make sure all parts have reached room temperature. Too cold or 
warm parts may lead to problems during the assembly.

CAUTION

 

Sharp edges. Be careful when handling any mechanical parts. Do not touch any sharp edges.

Do not lift the side rails by moving parts. Always lift them by the rigid frame.

INSERTING BATTERIES

NOTICE

 

Do not use rechargeable batteries.

NOTICE

 

Replace the batteries of the remote control once a year.

NOTICE

 

Do not place the assembled bed flush against the wall to avoid damage to the bed and the wall. 
Keep a small distance.

Insert the two provided 1,5V AAA batter-

ies and slide the cover in position.

BEFORE USING YOUR YAASA ADJUSTABLE BED FOR THE FIRST TIME

Your Yaasa Adjustable Bed is almost ready, pleasure follow these steps before using:
•  Put a mattress on the Yaasa Adjustabled Bed
•  Plug in your Yaasa Adjustable Bed
•  Activate your bed with the remote control

DISASSEMBLY

To disassemble Yaasa Adjustable Bed follow the actions of the assembly instructions in reverse 
order. 

NOTICE

 

After the side to side cable gets unplugged and reconnected a drive reset must be performed.
Perform a drive reset by pressing the 

Flat Position 

button for at least 15 seconds. The remote 

control displays “F” to confirm the input. Then the bed will move into the flat position and resets 
the drive position.

To minimize the risk of pinch-

ing when transporting the side 

rails, secure all moving parts 

with packaging tape by wrap-

ping it all around the shown ar-

eas.

CAUTION

 

Do not grab the side rails by moving parts. Always grab them by the rigid frame.

TRANSPORTATION

The fully assembled bed may only be moved a moderate distance to adjust the position in a room. 
To move the bed one person must lift the bed on each of the side rails.

CAUTION

Do not tilt the assembled bed upright to move it.

NOTICE

 

Do not tilt the bed to move it. Do only move in horizontal position.
When moving to a different location, the bed must be disassembled.

REMOTE CONTROL

The remote control allows you to move all parts of the bed from up to 23 feet (7m) away. There 
can be up to two remote controls connected to one bed. The buttons on the remote control func-
tion as follows:

Activate Child Lock when children are present.

PRECONFIGURED MEMORY POSITIONS

The system comes preconfigured with two distinct positions. Each saved on one memory posi-
tion key:

RESET OF MEMORY POSITIONS

1 Anti-Snore position

Gently raises your head, opens 
up nasal airway passages and 
helps prevent snoring.

2 Zero Gravity position

Relieves pressure from your 
back & spine, promotes bet-
ter blood flow and creates a 
weightless sensation through-
out the body.

The animated LED array changes according to the currently 
used function.

Head Position Up and Down

Use the arrow keys to move the Head Position up and down. It 
will move until you release the key or you reach the highest or 
lowest position.

Flat Position

Press this button to automatically flatten the bed surface.

Foot Position Up and Down

Use the arrow keys to move the Foot Position up and down. It 
will move until you release the key or you reach the highest or 
lowest position.

Favorite Position 1

To recall the memory position, simply press the button (less than 
3 seconds) and the bed moves automatically to the saved po-
sition.

 

To store a favorite position, move the bed to the desired 

position and press the button for at least 3 seconds. The default 
setting for this button is Anti-Snore

Favorite position 2

To recall the memory position, simply press the button (less than 
3 seconds) and the bed moves automatically to the saved po-
sition. To store a favorite position, move the bed to the desired 
position and press the button for at least 3 seconds. The default 
setting for this button is Zero-Gravity

Child Lock 

Hold for three seconds to disable or enable the Child Lock. The 
remote control displaying an L when pressing any button will in-
dicate that the child lock is activated.

To reset the Memory Position buttons to their precon-

figured positions you need to perform a default reset.

CLEANING

WARNING

 

To reduce the risk of electric shock: Always unplug this bed from the electrical outlet before 
cleaning.

To clean any parts of Yaasa Adjustable Bed only use a dry or damp lint free cloth. Do not get any 
parts wet during cleaning.

NOTICE

 

Do not use any cleaning agent to clean Yaasa Adjustable Bed as it may damage the surface fin-
ish. Non-alcohol based cleaners, sanitizers or others can destroy the anodized layer.

MAINTENANCE

The Yaasa Adjustable Bed is maintenance-free. In case of any damage or problem please con-
tact Yaasa:

Insert two 9V battery blocks into the power converter. Do not 
use rechargeable batteries.
Make sure no heavy object or any person is on the bed or in the 
range of moving parts.
Press the button on the power supply until the bed is in the flat 
position.

BEHAVIOR

Remote does light up but 
bed does not respond to

POSSIBLE CAUSE / SOLUTION

1. Check power connection of the bed.
2. Possible overheating after continuous use.    

 

(The bed is not designed for continuous operation. Wait one 
minute after each complete driving cycle.)

3. Unplug the power converter until the LED goes out and plug 

it back in.

Replace the batteries of the remote control. 

Unplug the power converter from the power connection.

After this action, the batteries must be replaced.
If batteries are stored in the power supply as a backup they must 
be replaced annually.

Press the button on the power supply until the bed is in the flat 
position:

Remote control defective 
or lost.

Parts of the bed do not 
move evenly.

Make sure the bed is leveled evenly.  Make sure no heavy ob-
jects or any person is on the bed or in the range of moving parts.

Perform a drive reset by pressing the 

Flat Position

 button for 

at least 15 seconds. The remote control displays “F” to confirm 
the input. Then the bed will move into the flat position and re-
sets the drive position.
