•
The appliance should only be connected by a qualified gas
fitter or by the technical Customer Service. This ensures that
the statutory regulations and installation rules issued by the
local gas board are adhered to. The instructions on this in the
section ”Assembly instructions” should be followed by the
qualified fitter.
•
Interference with and repairs to the appliance by unqualified
persons are dangerous as they can result in explosion, electric
shock, or short circuit. Do no interfere with or try to repair the
appliance; this could cause injury and damage to the
appliance. Therefore always have such work done by an
expert, e.g. the technical Customer Service.
•
The use of a gas cooker causes heat and humidity to form in
the room where the cooker is installed. Always ensure that the
kitchen is well-ventilated. Keep the natural vents open or have
a mechanical ventilation device installed (e.g. a range hood).
•
If the appliance is used intensively for a long period, additional
ventilation may be necessary, e.g. by turning up the
mechanical ventilation device.
•
Fat and oil which become overheated can ignite automatically.
Never leave the appliance unattended while in use.Never try
to extinguish fat and oil which has ignited by using water; this
could cause injury. Cover the saucepan so that the flame
extinguishes. Turn off the ring and let the saucepan cool down.
•
Caution: danger of injury to babies and children, as they do not
recognise the danger. Keep children away from the appliance
and never leave older children to work with the appliance
unattended.
•
The surfaces of the heating and cooking zones and the
accessory parts become hot during use.
Always keep children away from the appliance! Always use a
cloth or saucepan gloves and handle the saucepans carefully
to avoid injury.
•
Do not allow the connection cables of electric appliances to
come into contact with the hot rings. A short circuit could occur
if the insulation material is damaged. Therefore, always keep
connection cables away from the hot rings.
•
Do not place any combustible objects near the rings due to
danger of fire.
•
Do not use high pressure cleaning devices or steam jets to
clean the appliance, this could cause a short circuit.
•
The rings should not be used to heat the room. Do not operate
the appliance with empty saucepans.
•
Make sure that the ring parts are in exactly the right position.
Parts placed wrongly on the rings make ignition difficult and
the flame is irregular. When using large saucepans there must
be a minimum distance of 50 mm to the combustible work
surface. The hot exhaust gasses flow outwards under the
saucepan and could damage the work surface.
•
If you have a range hood, rings in operation should always be
covered by saucepans or pans. Due to the intensive heat,
parts of the hood could be damaged or residual fat could ignite
in the filter.
If there are problems in the gas area or if you smell gas in the
room, immediately
•
turn off the gas tap to the supply or the gas bottle,
•
extinguish all flames and smoking objects,
•
do not switch on any electric devices (not even lights),
•
ventilate the room thoroughly – open the windows,
•
inform the technical Customer Service or your gas fitter.
Correct use
The gas cooking appliance is designed for installation in a worktop.
The installed appliance should only be used for normal household
preparation of food. Do not use the appliance for any other
purpose.

Instructions for use
•
The outer part of the gas flame is much hotter than the heart of
the flame. Therefore, the flame tips should touch the saucepan
bottom rather than flowing out under it. Flames which flow out
under the saucepan release heat into the air.
•
Use the high-speed burner for heating larger quantities such
as water. Use the standard burner to cook average quantities
of food (vegetables, rice, potatoes....).
•
Place the saucepan on the saucepan support in the middle of
the cooking zone.
•
Thin saucepan bottoms let the heat through to the food faster
than thick ones. As the heat is not distributed evenly, there is a
danger that some of the food will overheat. Therefore, it should
be stirred regularly.
•
Thick-bottomed saucepans reduce the danger of partial
overheating as sufficient heat balance can form in the bottom.
•
Always use saucepans with good lids. This means less loss of
steam and saves a considerable amount of energy. To simmer
the food after first cooking, set the gas flame on low. The use
of pressure cookers can also save a considerable amount of
energy, as the food is simmered at a higher temperature and is
ready quicker.

suitable than tall, narrow ones. They

Important
•
Do not operate the hob without saucepans and do not use the
burners to heat rooms!
•
Always keep the cooking zones clean, dirt restricts the
performance of the appliance.
•
Start with a high flame to begin cooking or frying. To continue
with the cooking process, reduce the flame.
•
Always ensure there is sufficient liquid in pressure cookers.
Otherwise the bottom of the pressure cooker can be damaged
due to over heating.
•
The ring burners are thermo-electrically secured so that the
gas supply is blocked as soon as the flame is turned off.
•
Always place the burner cover in the correct position over the
burner head. When placing the burner cover, please ensure
that it locks into the correct cams. The slits in the burner head
should never be blocked.
•
Place the saucepan/frying pan on the saucepan support of the
cooking zone.
Igniting and operating the burners
The burners are ignited by an electric spark ignition built into each
burner.
•
To ignite, push the correct control knob in fully and turn it up to
full flame
. The spark ignites the gas flowing out through
the spark ignition.
•
After ignition, keep the knob pressed in for another 10 seconds
until the thermal sensors have heated up sufficiently and the
flame is steady.
•
After that, the flame intensity can be regulated between full
flame
and low flame
. Outside this area the flame is not
steady.
•
If the flame goes out, repeat the ignition procedure. To turn off
the burner, turn the control knob towards the right to the off
position
.
The electric spark ignition only functions if the plug is connected to
the electricity supply.
If there is a power failure or if the spark ignitions are damp, the gas
flowing out can also be ignited by a match or a gas ignitor. In this
case ignition is carried out at the edge of the burner head.

•
Before cleaning, switch off the hob and let it cool down.
•
Do not clean the device with a hot-steam or steam-jet cleaner.
•
Do not use scouring agent, strong cleaning agents or hard
objects to clean the appliance.
Cooking zones
•
Do not scratch off burned in food; pre-soften it with a damp
cloth or remove it with hot water and a little washing-up liquid.
•
To clean the saucepan support, the gas cooking zone and the
burner parts, use hot water with a little washing-up liquid.
•
Clean the thermal sensor and the spark ignition with a soft
brush.
•
Cleaning the burner cover. Always make sure that the slits of
the burner cover are not blocked.
•
Replace the dry parts exactly.
•
The burner covers are painted black. In the long run, slight
changes in colour of the burner parts cannot be avoided due to
the high level of heat. This has no influence on the functioning
of the appliance.
Glass ceramic
Important! Never use aggressive cleaning agents such as rough
scouring agent, abrasive saucepan cleaners, rust and stain
removers etc.
Use a damp cloth or a warm rinse to clean light amounts of dirt from
the surface. Rinse off leftover cleaning agent with cold water and
then dry the surface thoroughly.
Use vinegar, lemon juice or a calcium dissolving agent to remove
water stains from the surface.
Heavy dirt
Remove heavy dirt with glass ceramic cleaning agents available at
good retailers. Apply the cleaner with kitchen paper and rub it in.
Leave it to take effect, then wipe off completely with cold water;
then dry the surface thoroughly.
Persistent dirt and caking can best be removed with a glass
scraper.Take care when using the scraper – danger of injury.
•
Repairs must be carried out by a qualified expert! Incorrect
repairs can be extremely dangerous for the user. Before
repairs are carried out the appliance must be cut off from the
electricity supply.
•
Interference with and repairs to the appliance by unqualified
persons are dangerous as they can result in explosion, electric
shock, or short circuit. Do no interfere with or try to repair the
appliance; this could cause injury and damage to the
appliance.
•
Please note: If your appliance is faulty, please check whether
you can remove the problem yourself by consulting these
instructions for use.
Do the burners burn irregularly after installation?
Injectors are fitted wrongly. Have the settings checked by an
expert.
Is there a sudden change in the flame of the burner?
Burner parts wrongly placed. Place the burner parts correctly.
Does the flame go out after the burner has been ignited and
the control knob released?
•
The control knob was not pressed in long enough. The thermal
fuse triggers and blocks the gas supply. Keep the control knob
pressed in longer.
•
Control knob not pressed in far enough. Press the control knob
in further.
•
Thermal sensor does not heat up enough. Have the settings
checked by an expert.
If there are problems in the gas area or if you smell gas in the
room, immediately
•
turn off the gas tap to the supply or the gas bottle,
•
extinguish all flames and smoking objects,
•
do not switch on any electric devices (not even lights),
•
ventilate the room thoroughly – open the windows,
•
inform the technical Customer Service or your gas fitter.

Safety instructions for the kitchen fitter
•
Veneers, stuck-on or plastic surfaces of surrounding furniture
must be temperature resistant (>75°C). If the veneers and
surfaces are not sufficiently heat resistant they can become
deformed.
•
The sealing strips for the walls must be heat resistant.
•
For installation directly next to a tall cupboard, a safety
distance of at least 100 mm must be observed. The side
surface of the tall cupboard should be fitted with heat resistant
material. Due to working requirements, however, the distance
should be at least 300 mm.
•
The distance between gas cooking zones and range hood
should be at least 65 cm unless otherwise stated in the
instructions delivered with the range hood.
•
Under the gas cooking zone an intermediary shelf must be
installed at a distance of at least 100 mm. This must be
removable to enable easy access for the fitter. If for example
an oven is fitted under the gas cooking zone, the intermediary
shelf is not necessary.
•
If the cooking surface is to be inserted over a built-in oven,
then it must be equipped with a cooling fan. An intermediary
shelf is not necessary in this case.
•
Remove any transverse strips underneath the worktop at least
in the area of the worktop cut-out.
•
To avoid danger of fire, make sure that no combustible objects
which could easily catch fire or become deformed on exposure
to heat are directly next to or above the surface.
•
The packaging materials (plastic foil, polystyrene, nails etc.)
must be kept out of reach of children as these parts are
potentially dangerous. Small parts can be swallowed and there
is a danger of suffocation.
Factory setting
•
The hob has been checked and registered in accordance with
DIN-DVDW.
•
The hob is delivered with the required gas settings and is
labelled accordingly.
•
The ring burners are thermo-electrically secured so that the
gas supply is blocked as soon as the flame is turned off.
•
The details are on the type plate of the appliance. The type
plate is on the bottom of the appliance.
•
Details on the heat load and the gas flow through the
individual burners can be found in the technical data.
•
If changing to another gas type the injectors must be replaced.
•
Adjusted or replaced parts must be resealed.
Important notes for the fitter
The appliance should only be connected by a qualified gas
fitter or by the technical Customer Service.
The DVGW/ÖVGW regulations, the technical rules of the State
building ordinances, the regulations and guidelines of the gas
supply company must be adhered to DVGW, worksheet G600
DVGW-TRGI, 1986 – technical regulations for gas installation,
TRF 1988 – technical regulations for liquified petroleum gas.
•
Before connecting the appliance it must be checked whether
the local supply conditions (type of gas and gas pressure) and
the settings of the appliance correspond.
•
The current setting for gas type and pressure can be found on
a plate close to the connecting branch.
•
The gas connection must be provided with a stop cock and
must be accessible.
•
Before interfering with the appliance in any way, the gas
supply must be cut off and the appliance must be idle.
•
This appliance should not be connected to a pipe for extracting
combustion products. It must be installed and connected in
accordance with the applicable conditions of installation.
Particular attention should be paid to sufficient ventilation
measures.
Electric supply
•
Before connecting please check that the voltage stated on the
type plate corresponds to the mains voltage.
•
The socket is to be installed in the bottom part of the
cupboard, outside the radiation area of the appliance.
•
The mains connection cable should not touch the bottom part
of the cooking zone as it heats up when in operation.
•
The appliance is supplied ready to plug in. Connect the mains
supply cable with plug to a shock proof socket (230 V~,
50 Hz). The shock proof socket must be installed and secured
correctly.
•
A cable extension or a fixed connection should only be
connected by a qualified gas fitter or by the technical
Customer Service.
Repairs to electric parts of the appliance should only be carried out
by qualified experts. Should a fault occur, please consult the
technical Customer Service.

Installation
Sealing
Before installation, correctly insert the sealing unit delivered with
the hob. In addition, make sure that no liquids can penetrate
between the edge of the hob and the worktop or between the hob
and the wall and come into contact with any electrical appliances.
When installing a hob into a worktop with a ceramic or similar
covering (tiles etc.), the sealing on the hob is to be removed and
the sealing between the hob and worktop carried out with plastic
sealing materials, such as heat-resistant silicone rubber (not
included in delivery).
Working surface cut-out
Cut out the worktop recess accurately with a good, straight saw
blade or recessing machine. The cut edges should then be sealed
so that no moisture can penetrate.
The area is cut out as illustrated. The back wall should be open if
possible.The intermediary shelf must have an opening of approx.
10 x 10 cm at the back on the left for pushing the mains cable and
the gas connection tube through.
Important!
There is a risk of breakage if the hob is canted or subjected to
stress during installation!

If the appliance is converted to run on a different type of gas, this
should only be carried out by a qualified gas fitter.
Gas connection
The gas hob is fitted with a gas connecting branch (1/2” external
thread).
The gas connection must be provided with a stop cock and must
be accessible. A safety gas socket is recommended. This should
be attached on the right, outside the radiation zone.
The connection can be fixed or carried out using a gas safety tube
with a socket (DIN3383, sheet 1) approved by the DVGW.
If using a safety gas tube, please make sure that it does not pass
through hot zones. The tube should be laid freely and should not
come into contact withany movable parts of the installed appliance
(e.g. drawer).
•
The gas safety tube is screwed ”gas tight” directly onto the gas
connecting branch (1/2” external thread).
•
After the hob has been connected, check the connection for
tightness.
Start of operation
Ignite all hob burners and check the burning stability of the high
and low flames. The nominal load of the high and low flames is
stated in the technical data.
Instructions for users
After the check, show the user how to operate the appliance as well
as the functions and give the user the operating instructions. Point
out in particular that changes to the construction which restrict the
combustion air supply must be followed by a new function check.
Point out to the user that any changes to the gas installation and to
the gas hob should be carried out only by qualified experts!
Converting to a different type of gas
If the appliance is converted to run on a different type of gas, the
main and bypass injectors will always have to be replaced. Screw
in the new injectors according to the gas type in the following
tables.
1. Disconnect the gas hob.
2. Remove the saucepan supports and the burner cover.
3. Using a special wrench (SW 5.5) screw the main injectors out
of the burner and screw in new injectors, (see illustration).
4. The bypass injectors (low flame) are in the burner taps and
can be replaced after removing the bottom of the appliance
with a screwdriver.
5. When placing the burner cover, please ensure that it locks into
the correct cams.
After conversion:
•
Stick the additional plate delivered with the injectors next to
the type plate.
•
Check that the gas hob is sealed.
•
Check the burning behaviour: open the gas stop cock and
ignite the burners one by one. When the gas flame is on low it
should not extinguish, not even when the control knob is
turned from high to low quickly. When the flame is on high it
should burn steadily and dully.
