Fuser Grade Issues when Printing on Heavy Media

Fuser grade concerns when printing on cotton or rough 
heavy papers when paper type is set to “Plain Paper”

Make sure that 
customer is printing 
with correct paper 
type settings

Cardstock Must be Fed Through Tray 1 or MPF

Cardstock only supported in Tray 1 and MPF

Instruct customer to only use these inputs when using 
cardstock

Waste Toner Bottle Issues

Counter must be reset when 
replacing the waste toner bottle

Overloaded Trays Cause Skews and Jams

It is possible for customer to fill tray above fill line, which 
will cause skews and jams.

Instruct customer not 
to fill past this line

Persistent Jam Errors Reported 

Printer may continue to post paper jam after removing paper 
from drawer and/or right side door; check for paper still 
jammed in the areas below

eSF Apps are Lost When the RIP Board is Replaced

Settings should be backed up from Embedded Web Server 
before replacing the RIP Board

Issues Related to Tray Size Sensing

Tray 1 DOES NOT have auto size sensing

Tray 1 sizes are determined by settings on the wheel as 
shown below

Trays 2-5 DO have auto-size sensing

These trays are set for either US or Metric sizes

Other than tray 1, customer cannot print both letter and A4

PQ Defect Due to Transfer Belt Damage/Wear

Band in process direction in same location across colors

Two frequent causes of this issue:

Transfer belt at the end of its life 

Damaged transfer belt

Ghosting Due to Transfer Belt

Ghost of image from one page showing up 3-4 pages later; 
instruct customer to try different paper

Printed Colors Do Not Match Monitor

Customer may complain that colors on prints do not match 
colors on monitor

If the file is a PDF and customer has Acrobat 9, instruct the 
customer to select the option “Use printer to select colors”
when they go to print; this should provide a better match to 
monitor colors

Printed Colors Do Not Match Monitor

While in Acrobat, select “Print” as if you were going to print 
the document,

Select “Advanced” at the bottom of the “Print” dialogue box,

Put a checkmark in “Let printer determine colors”,

Click “OK”.

900.30 Error After Pressing “Cancel Jobs” Button

A 900.30 Firmware Error is caused by pressing the “Cancel 
Jobs” button after receiving a fax with a blank Remote 
Station ID.

This error can also occur if a fax with a blank Remote 
Station ID is held in the Fax Job Queue. 

Try power cycling the printer to resolve the error.

If the fax with the blank Remote Station ID is still in the Fax 
Job Queue, however, this is stored on the Hard Drive so the 
Fax Job Queue will need to be cleared in Diagnostic Mode.

Updating the printer to the latest level of code should 
resolve the issue.

61 Defective Disk Error When Exiting Some Menus

This is a false message that may occur if you exit 
Configuration Menu, the MFP Setup Wizard or other menus 
too quickly.

The error can be fixed by updating the printer to the latest 
version of code.

842.02 Scanner Communication Failure Error

This error indicates a communication problem when 
scanning from the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF). 

The error occurs when the ADF is trying to initiate a second 
scan job when there is no second scan;  it doesn’t know 
how to handle the copy request so it posts the error.

Loading custom-size media in the ADF when the size of the 
media copied is different from that which is selected may 
cause this error.  

Also, this error may occur when the wrong paper size value 
is selected as “Copy From” compared to what is actually 
being scanned in the ADF.

The error can be cleared by setting the correct paper size 
settings.

If the error persists, update the printer code to the latest 
level.

956.01 System Board Error

Under certain heavy load and/or hot operating conditions, 
the printer may post a 956.01 System Board Error.

This issue can be resolved by updating the printer to the 
latest level of code (LHS1.HK.P136b or later).

Wireless Card Not Recognized

After installing a supported wireless card, the printer does 
not recognize the card.

The minimum base code level to support wireless 
connectivity is LSH1.HV.P129.

Update the code to the latest level.
