Performing a test

Use the appropriate filter for the specific
gemstone (diamonds, emeralds, rubies and
sapphires). Connect the filter to GemPen

®

 as

illustrated in figure 5.

Figure 5

Rotate GemPen

®

 and examine the LED indicator

next to the USB-C port on the unit. If it glows
in the color of white the unit can be used for
testing gemstones. After GemPen

®

 is switched

on, hold and point GemPen

®

 towards your

gemstone. The filter glass should be within
30-50 mm from the gemstone. It is highly
recommended to place your gemstone in the
casing before switching GemPen

®

 on. Depending

on the position of the gemstone you may want
to twist and tilt GemPen

®

for a more accurate

result. When conducting a test, it should look like
the illustration in figure 6.

On www.gemometrics.com you will find the
fluorescence map and the test-tree which
could be used as a guideline to validate your
gemstones.

Please apply the right filter while validating a
gemstone.

In case the filters are damaged, please order new
on our website www.gemometrics.com.

Figure 6

Important notes
