Quick Installation Guide
Thank you for choosing the Genie NVRPRO Network Video Recorder. The following
quick guide will help you to complete the installation and configuration of the NVR.
Please read the following description carefully.
Pre-installation Notice
Make sure the following items are pre-prepared for installing your NVRPRO8.
Network connection
Configuration and compatibility of network cameras*
Computer for configuring the NVRPRO8
1-8 Hard Disk Drives – must be compatible with your NVRPRO8
1x Slotted screwdriver and 1x Philips screwdriver

System Requirements
The following are the minimum PC system requirements to operate the NVRPRO8:
Operating System
Microsoft® Windows® XP (32-bit) / Vista 7 (32 and 64-bit)
Browser
Microsoft® Internet Explorer 7.0 or above (32-bit)
CPU
For less than 16-channels: Intel
®
Dual core CPU 3.0 GHz or above
For more than 16-channels: Intel® i5/i7 CPU 3.3 GHz or above
Network
Minimum 10/100 Ethernet (Gigabit Ethernet is recommended)
Note
: * We suggest connecting the cameras and NVR to a Gigabit Ethernet switch.
Memory
For less than 16-channels: DDR3 4Gb or above
For more than 16-channels: IDDR3 8Gb or above
Graphics Adapter
AGP or PCI-Express, minimum 1024
×
768, 16 bit colours, 1Gb memory or
above.
Note
: We highly recommended using a graphics adaptor which provides higher
than 1024 x 768 resolution in order to experience the full benefits of the software.

Make sure the display DPI setting is set to default at 96DPI
To set the DPI value, right-click on desktop, choose “
Settings
” tab >>

CD-ROM Drive
Please read the operating instructions on the provided CD-ROM.
Adobe Reader
Is necessary to read the operating instructions on the provided CD-ROM.
The audio function will not work if a sound card is not installed in the PC.
Audio may be interrupted and is dependent on network traffic.

Hard Disk Installation
Please follow the steps as illustrated below to install the hardware:
Take the disk tray(s) out from the
NVR.
Connect the Ethernet cable to the Gigabit
LAN port.
Install a hard disk in each tray and
secure the disk with four screws.
Ensure the disk holes match the
holes at the base of disk tray.
Connect the power cord to the power
connector.
Insert the disk tray(s) into the NVR
and push to the end.
Turn on the server and a beep indicates
the NVR is in the boot process. Wait until
the NVR beeps again – this may take a
minute or two. The NVR installation is
now complete.

Connection to NVRPRO8 NVR
Insert the products CD-ROM in a PC to install NVR Search and NVR Player. Finally,
you can start the Quick Configuration on a web page.
Install NVR Search - used for finding a NVR in the network.
Install NVR Player.
Connect to the configured NVR and install the ActiveX control.
Install NVR Search
Execute the product CD and click “Install NVR Search.”
Follow the installation instructions and NVR Search runs automatically.
Install NVR Player
Click “Install NVR Player” and follow the instructions to setup.

Connect to NVRPRO8
1. Connect to NVRPRO8
After installing NVR Search and NVR Player you can connect to the monitoring
page using one of the following two options:
a) NVR Search
If you click “
Connect
” or double click the selected NVR list, the IE browser
pops up automatically.
b) IE Browser
Log into the system by entering the IP address in the IE browser.
Note
:
There are two methods to set network:
Obtain an IP address automatically (NVR Default)
Obtain an available dynamic IP address - assigned by a DHCP server. If this option is
selected the NVRPRO automatically obtains an available dynamic IP address from the
DHCP server once it connects to the network.
Specify an IP address
If there is no DHCP server exists in the network environment, the static IP address is
given as
192.168.1.245
. This should be OK in most networking environments and you
can choose to keep the default IP address or change it in this page. However, it’s
recommended that you set different NVRPRO IP addresses if there is more than one
NVR in the same LAN.

c) Enter a User Name and Password
Log into the NVR with the default administrator account (user name: admin,
password: admin).
d) Install the ActiveX control
in order to successfully view the interface of the
NVRPRO8 from IE browser.
Quick configuration
After you install the ActiveX control the system directs you to the 5-Step Quick
Configuration. Follow the Wizard Overview instructions to complete the system setup.
Once the five step Quick Configuration is complete you can click “
Start Liveview
” to

start monitoring.
For further Quick Configuration details please refer to the user manual.
When the live view is displayed, you have successfully installed the NVRPRO8.
