SECTION 2 - CONNECTING POWER
The Silent Generator™ Power System can be cord-connected or hard-wired to AC/DC power. The Silent Generator™ Power
System
must
be connected to a properly sized AC and/or DC power source to ensure the batteries are charged and ready for the
next power disruption.
2.1 CONNECTING TO AC UTILITY POWER
2.1.1 CORD CONNECTING
The Silent Generator™ Power System has a NEMA L14-20 (125/250VAC @ 20A) male power inlet, commonly found on
generator equipment, to allow users to cord-connect to AC power. Consult with a licensed electrician to install a 20A
125/250VAC Power Outlet Box (PN 14212) near the location the Silent Generator™ Power System will be installed. Connect
the provided RJB12410 cordset between the Power Outlet Box and power inlet on the Silent Generator™ Power System.
2.1.2 HARDWIRING CONNECTING
A more permanent installation solution is to hardwire the Silent Generator™ Power System directly to a dedicated 20A
125/250VAC 2-Pole circuit breaker in your load center. Cut the male plug off of the RJB12410 cordset and connect to the 20A
125/250VAC 2-pole circuit breaker in your load center following all local electrical code and permitting requirements.
2.2 CONNECTING TO DC POWER

loads are removed and then restart after 6 second delay. All loads connected to the Silent Generator™ Power System will be
provided power without interruption as along as the batteries are properly charged.
SECTION 5 - BATTERY MAINTENANCE and REPLACEMENT
The Silent Generator™ Power System uses VRLA AGM sealed batteries, full charged and ready to use from the factory. The
Silent Generator™ Power System should be installed and connected to an AC or DC power source within 90 days of purchase.
While the batteries have a design life of 10 years, long periods between charging (self-discharging), more frequent
charge/discharge cycles and extreme ambient temperatures can reduce actual battery life to 5 years or less. While the batteries
are maintenance-free, avoid frequent (daily) discharging of batteries to more than 50% of their capacity. Under extreme
conditions, occasionally discharging to an 80% level is acceptable. Total discharging will reduce battery life and permanently
damage the batteries. Gen/Tran recommends setting up a bi-annual maintenance schedule to check the condition of the
batteries. If batteries need to be replaced, ONLY use a Gen/Tran approved battery, call Gen/Tran for pricing and availability. Use
of unauthorized batteries will void the warranty and could potentially damage the system.
