Product Features

Hard Drive 

This is a convenient function where the unit can be connected to a PC by a USB cable, creating

Removable Drive

that can be used like a regular hard drive.

R e c o r d i n g

Records in MP3 format to store and playback.

Lecture Study 

Five playback speed variable adjustments & sectional playback functions for helpful lecture use.

Real Time MP3 Encoding

Output from CD audio can be converted into MP3 format, stored, and played back by
connecting the LINE IN port, without the need of a PC.

Multi-format Digital Audio

Supports storage and playback of MP3, WMA, GVF, and ADPCM file types.

GVF Format

As a format designed exclusively by GGKAISER for voice files, GVT offers high audio quality
and output rate of 6KBit.

FM Radio Reception & Recording

FM radio signals can be received and directly recorded in MP3 format.

Multi Lingual Supporting Graphic LCD / Built-in Backlight

Supports multiple languages, and current statuses can be easily verified through the built-in 
EL BACKLIGHT.

VAD (Voice Activity Detection)

Records only when sound is detected and pauses when sound is not detected any 
longer: this function minimizes file size and reduces memory use.

Variable Bit Rate Configuration

This function allows the user to adjust the bit rate during sound or LINE IN recordings, adjusting
sound quality and effectively managing memory.

This function connects to GGKAISER

s website and downloads the latest software version to

keep your unit updated.

Getting Started

Inserting Batteries

Open the cover on back of the unit and
place AAA batteries.

Before using the player, connect to the download site in GGKAISER

s homepage

(www.ggkaiser.com) and download/install a USB driver compatible with your PC.
(Refer to the Installing USB Driver section of this manual)

Insert batteries into the player, then press the PLAY button to power it on.

Connect the PC and the player via a USB cable.
(

Mass Connect

will display on the LCD)

Access the 

My Computer

folder to find a newly created 

Removable Drive.

Use in the

same manner as a regular hard drive to quickly and conveniently up/download music files.

Disconnect the USB cable.

Press the PLAY button to playback music.

Connect the earphone to the player and enjoy high quality music!

Warning!  Always check the +/- markings on the
batteries when inserting them into the player.

Installation is required for WIN98/SE only.
W I N ME/ W I N 2 0 00/XP will automatically install
without prompting.

Powering ON

To power on, hold down the PLAY button for 1 to 2 seconds.

Powering OFF

To power off, hold down the STOP button for 3 seconds.  The
LCD will indicate 

Power Off,

and the unit will power down.

Volume Control

Press the MODE button while in PLAY mode to have VOL
indicated on the LCD.  Adjust the volume by pressing the
UP/DOWN buttons.

Equalizer 

Press the MODE button while in PLAY mode to access the
Equalizer function.  Select a preset (Rock, Classic, Jazz, Pop,
and Norm) by using the UP/DOWN buttons.

Bass Control

Press the MODE button while in PLAY mode to have BASS
indicatead on the LCD, Adjust the -10 to 10 pressing the
UP/DOWN buttons

Treble Control

Press the MODE button while in PLAY mode to have TREBLE
indicatead on the LCD, Adjust the -10 to 10 pressing the
UP/DOWN buttons

Playing Back

Press the PLAY button while the power is ON to start playback.

Track Selection

Press the UP/DOWN buttons while power is ON to select track.

S T O P / P A U S E

Pressing the STOP button while in PLAY mode will stop
playback.Pressing the PLAY button while in PLAY mode will
pause playback.

REPEAT Mode Configuration

Press the MODE button while in PLAY mode to convert to RPT
mode.  Select by using the UP/DOWN buttons.

5 Speed control

The player will not power down if it is connected to a
PC via a USB cable.
The player will power down automatically if no input
has been made in 2 minutes under STOP mode.

Play a random track and stop
Play once and stop
Repeat selected track

Repeat only the tracks in selected
f o l d e r
Repeat all tracks

Adjusting Playback Speed

Press the MODE button in succession in PLAY mode to access
SPD.  Press the UP/DOWN buttons to select from five playback
speeds (SLOW1, SLOW2, SLOW3, SLOW4, and NORMAL).
When the desired speed is indicated, the unit will perform
playback in that speed without having to press any buttons.

5. Recording

1) Quick Record

Pressing the MODE button for two seconds in STOP mode will
access the RECORD mode and the REC Stand by status.
Pressing the STOP button will create file designations in
ENC01.02 order and the files will be stored.

Record Stop

Press the STOP button when recording is completed to stop it.

Selecting a Recorded File 

Use the UP/DOWN buttons as would when searching for tracks
to select a recorded file.

Playing Back a Recorded File

Press the PLAY button after making a selection to listen to the
r e c o r d i n g .

Configuring VAD (Voice Activity Detection) Recording

VAD records only when sound is detected and pauses when
sound is not detected any longer: this function minimizes file
size and reduces memory use

Press the MODE button in STOP mode to select 

VAD OFF.

Use the UP/DOWN buttons to select VAD ON/OFF.

Recording Quality (Bit Rate)

Record file

s bit rate can be adjusted to suit recording purposes

(extended recording, high quality, and etc.).  Lower bit rates
allow longer recordings but fall in record quality.  Higher bit rates
allow higher recording quality but fall in record length.

Record Pause

Pressing the PLAY button while recording will pause it.
Pressing it again will resume recording.

Before recording,  the following

options necessary in recording must be
configured by pressing the  MODE
button in STOP mode:

Press the UP button again at the end point of the section.  
The [A

B] icon will seize to blink and sectional repeat will start.

To cancel the selected repeat section, press the STOP button.
Sectional repeat will cancel as indicated by the disappearance
of  [A

B], and normal playback will resume.

Sectional Repeat 

When in [A

-

B] mode during PLAY mode, press the MODE

button at the desired starting point of the section to be repeated.
[ A

B] will indicate and pressing the UP button will start

playback, indicated by the blinking [A

B] icon

Record Lengths by Bit Rate Levels (based on 128MB memory capacity)

For general use, please select 32kbps

VOICE Bit Rate Adjustment

Select 

Bit Rate 32kbps

by pressing the MODE button in

STOP mode.  Select a bit rate value using the UP/DOWN
b u t t o n s .

Pausing LINE-IN Recording

Press the MODE button while recording to pause.

Ending LINE-IN Recording

Pressing the STOP button to complete the recording process
will display the number of file (ENC01...) recording has been
made onto and that file will be stored in memory.

Playing Back LINE-IN Recording

Select a file by using the UP/DOWN buttons, then press the
PLAY button to start playback.

Configuring Silence Detection Level

This is used to configure the sensitivity in detecting the silence
between tracks in SYNC mode.

Press the MODE button in succession in STOP mode to
access SILENCE MID.  Use the UP/DOWN buttons to select a
desired LEVEL.

Starting LINE-IN Recording

First, connect the audio connecting (LINE-IN) cable.  With the
external source playing back, long-press the MODE button to
start recording.

2) LINE-IN Recording Mode

LINE-IN Recording Configuration

Press the MODE button in succession in STOP mode to
access Music Source.  Pressing the UP/DOWN buttons will
display 

L i n e - i n

on the LCD.  Connect the LINE-IN cable and

long-press the MODE button to begin recording.

SYNC OFF: Records from start of LINE-IN recording until the
STOP button has been pressed as one single file.

SYNC ON: Automatically divides LINE-IN source tracks to
record each section as a separate file

LINE-IN Audio

Configuring Silence Detection Level

SILENCE HIGH - Set sensitivity high when silence level bet ween tracks or if there

minimal noise.

SILENCE MID - Select when making general recordings. (default)
SILENCE LOW - Set sensitivity low when silence level is high or if there

s large

amount of noise.

Recording may not be made if the 
sound source is too low

Configuring Sampling Frequency for External Source

Press the MODE button in succession in STOP mode to
access Sampling Freq.  Use the UP/DOWN buttons to select
sampling frequency.

Listening to FM Radio

Press the MODE button from STOP mode to select FM.  Press
PLAY to listen.

File Erase

Erasing a Single File

Press the MODE button in succession in STOP mode to
access 

Erase 1 File.

Use the UP/DOWN buttons to select the

number of the file to be erased.
Pressing PLAY will indicate

Pressing PLAY again will

and that file will then be erased

Press the MODE button in succession in STOP mode to

Press the MODE button in STOP mode to access

Use the UP/DOWN buttons to verify current status,

memory available, and total amount.

Setting FM Radio Frequencies

While listening to the radio, press the PLAY button to access
the PRESET control mode. (PRSET number will blink)
Adjust the frequency by using the UP/DOWN buttons, then
long-press the PLAY button to set that frequency to the
PRESET at hand.

Locating Set Frequency

Use the UP/DOWN buttons in FM mode to locate set
f r e q u e n c i e s .
The UP/DOWN buttons are used for frequency adjustment in
PRESET mode.

Configuring FM Recording

To record from an FM source, press the MODE button while in
FM mode to access RECORD Stand by.  Press the MODE
button again to begin recording.  Another press of the MODE
button returns to Stand by.  Press the STOP button to
automatically store the data recorded until that point.

8.  Installing USB Hard Drive

Connecting a USB Cable

Connect the PC and the player via USB cable first

Installing USB Driver

Installing Windows 98 USB Driver 

Download the Wind98 Driver from the Client-Support section of our homepage
( w w w . g g k e i s e r . c o m ) .

Click on 98Driver.zip and follow the above instructions to
install on your computer. Right-click on the stored file and
select 'uncompress' to access the contents.

When not powered, this product utilizes the PC

s power source when connected to it

by a USB cable.

98Driver folder will appear as shown
above when the file is uncompressed. 

If 98Driver appears on screen as below, click Next. 

Within the created folder, the following four

files will be available.

With the product (player)'s power turned on, connect it to the PC with a USB cable.

When the cable is connected, driver search will
automatically run. (If driver search does not
automatically run, select Add Hardware from the
Control Panel)  Click Next and install as shown below

Click Next and select the driver as shown below .

9. Using the USB Hard Drive

Using the Portable drive as you would a normal hard drive will allow you to freely up/download
whenever desired.

Please refer to GGKAISER

Click on Search to find and install the driver
following the steps outlined below

When installation is performed as instructed above, the system will seek the Telechips USB Mass
Storage Device as shown below 

Accessing the My Computer folder after
completing the installation will reveal a
Removable Disk folder. 

The driver has been successfully installed if
Telechips USB Driver is indicated under
Device Manager, Hardware, Control Panel. 

After selecting the driver as shown above,
click OK complete the installation procedure. 

Note that uploading and downloading

file should be done after removing an

earphone cable.

11. Customer Support

C a u t i o n s

Do not drop or expose it to severe shock.  

Avoid the following locations:

1) Externals may deform if left in places of 60

˚

C or higher.

2) Externals may deform is left in direct sunlight or near heating devices.
3) Humid or moist spots can be critical for electronic products.
4) Dusty locations.

Do not apply excessive force on the LCD.

Placing credit cards, bank cards, or any other magnetic cards near the player may affect its    

magnetic properties and hinder the unit from operating.

GGKAISER will not be held responsible in whole for compensation demands for damage 
caused from use of the unit or by a third party.

GGKAISER will not be held responsible in whole for loss of file contents arising from 
breakdown, repair, and other miscellaneous reasons.

Remove the batteries when the unit is not in use for an extended period of time.

Use soft cloth to clean the product, avoiding chemical cleaning products.  (May cause 
deformation in the unit

s externals or its color)

Do not disassemble, repair, or modify the unit at your own accord.

Please ensure no external matter reaches inside the unit.
Moisture or external matter inside the unit will critically damage it.
If water or liquids reach inside the unit, remove the batteries and/or disconnect the 
power adapter and contact GGKAISER (Customer Support 0 3 1 - 4 8 8 - 8 3 4 0 ) .

Safety Precautions

1. Do not handle the adapter with wet hands.  There

s a risk of electrical shock.

2. Listening to music for extended periods of time in high volume settings may damage 

h e a r i n g .

3. Do not disassemble, repair, or modify the unit at your own accord.
4. If smoke arises from or excessive heat is generated by the unit, immediately remove the 

batteries and/or disconnect the power adapter.

5. Please refrain from using the unit in hospitals and airplanes.
6. Listening to music through the earphone at high volume settings when operating bicycles, 

motorbikes, and vehicles may cause accidents.

The unit will not operate and nothing displays on the LCD window.

Check battery positions.
Change the batteries with new ones.
If the batteries are rechargeable, try again after recharging.

T h e r e’s no sound when playing.

Make sure that music file is available in the unit.
Check the volume setting.
Check the earphone connection.

The buttons do not work.

Has the player been exposed to shock?
Remove and replace the batteries.
If the problem persists still, contact us.

Downloading does not work.

Check the USB cable connection.
Has the USB driver been installed properly?
