Safety Notes
Read these safety notes carefully before using this product to ensure
that you operate the equipment safely.
Your GERA product and recommended supplies have been designed
and tested to meet strict safety requirements. These include safety
agency approval, and compliance with established environmental
standards. Please read the following instructions carefully before
operating the product and refer to them as needed to ensure the
continued safe operation of your product.
The safety and environment testing and performance of this product
have been verified using GERA materials only.
WARNING: Any unauthorized alteration, which may include the
addition of new functions or connection of external
devices, may affect the product certification. Please
contact your Authorized Local Dealer for more
information.

All warning instructions marked on or supplied with the product should
be followed.

Electrical Supply
This product shall be operated from the type of electrical supply
indicated on the product's data plate label. If you are not sure that your
electrical supply meets the requirements, please consult your local power
company for advice.
WARNING:
This product must be connected to a protective grounded
circuit.
This product is supplied with a plug that has a protective grounding pin.
This plug will only fit into a grounded electrical outlet. This is a safety
feature. To avoid risk of electric shock, contact your electrician to
replace the electrical outlet if you are unable to insert the plug into it.
Never use a grounding adapter plug to connect the product to an
electrical outlet that lacks a grounded connection terminal.
Operator Accessible Areas
This equipment has been designed to restrict operator access to safe areas
only. Operator access to hazardous areas is restricted with covers or
guards, which would require a tool to remove. Never remove these
covers or guards.
WARNING – Electrical Safety Information

Use only the power cord supplied with this equipment.
•
Plug the power cord directly into a grounded electrical outlet. Do not
use an extension cord. If you do not know if an outlet is grounded,
consult a qualified electrician.
If this machine needs to be moved to a different location, contact a
GERA service representative or your authorized local representative or
service support organization.

Improper connection of the equipment-grounding conductor can
result in electrical shock.
•
Do not place this equipment where people might step or trip on the
power cord.
•
Do not place objects on the power cord.
•
Do not override or disable electrical or mechanical interlocks.
•
Do not obstruct the ventilation openings.
•
Never push objects of any kind into slots or openings on this
equipment.
•
If any of the following conditions occur, switch off the power to the
machine immediately and disconnect the power cord from the
electrical outlet. Call an authorized local service representative to
correct the problem.

The equipment emits an unusual noise or odour.
−
The power cord is damaged or frayed.
−
A wall panel circuit breaker, fuse, or other safety device has
been tripped.
−
Liquid is spilled into the folder.
−
The equipment is exposed to water.
−
Any part of the equipment is damaged.
Disconnect Device
The power cable is the disconnect device for this equipment. It is
attached to the back of the machine as a plug-in device. To remove all
electrical power from the equipment, disconnect the power cable from
the electrical outlet.
Operational Safety Information
To ensure the continued safe operation of your GERA equipment,
follow these safety guidelines at all times.
Do these:
•
Always connect equipment to a correctly grounded power outlet. If in
doubt, have the outlet checked by a qualified electrician.
•
This equipment must be connected to a protective grounded circuit.

GERA equipment. Use of unsuitable materials may result in poor
performance.

Always unplug this equipment from the electrical outlet before
cleaning.
Do not Do these:
•
Never use a plug that lacks a grounded connection terminal to connect
the product to an electrical outlet.
•
Never attempt any maintenance function that is not specifically
described in this documentation.
•
This equipment should not be placed in a built-in installation unless
proper ventilation is provided. Please contact your Authorized Local
Dealer for further information.

•
Never remove covers or guards that are fastened with screws. There
are no operator serviceable areas within these covers.
•
Never locate the equipment near a radiator or any other heat source.
•
Never push objects of any kind into the ventilation openings.
•
Never override or “cheat” any of the electrical or mechanical
interlock devices.
•
Never operate the equipment if you notice unusual noises or odors.
Disconnect the power cord from the electrical outlet and contact
your local Service Provider immediately.
Radio Frequency Emissions
This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for
a class A digital device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules and EN
55022 standard for EMC rules. These limits are designed to provide
reasonable protection against harmful interference when the equipment
is operated in a commercial environment. This equipment generates,
uses, and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and
used in accordance with the instruction manual, may cause harmful
interference to radio communications. Operation of this equipment in a
residential area is likely to cause harmful interference, in which case the
user will be required to correct the interference at his own expense.
Changes and modifications to this equipment not specifically approved
by GERA void the user’s authority to operate this equipment.

This symbol means the need to dispose the product
according to the law in force in the own country.
Before dispose the GERA product, mind that it
contains lead and other materials that could require
specific procedures for the disposing. The lead
quantity is fully compliant with the international in
force when the product was put on the market

General Overview
Referring to the final folded pocket in basso, it is possible to choose
between following folding programs:
210 fold “a”=210 mm
190 fold “a”=190 mm
190+m
fold “a”=190 mm m=20mm (*)
fold “b”=297 mm

Folder USE
Before Folding
Use the extractable support to put the drawings to be trimmed before
folding operations. Lift up the bar and block it in horizontal position .

After put the drawings on the support bar, trim the drawing edge short
side where is located the title block, choose the fan folding program di
(190 o 210), feed the copy for the fan folding with front title block; take
again the fan folded copy and trim the two shorter edge then feed the
copy from the shorter side for the cross folding.
All the operations above are described in particular below.

Trimmer Use
The trimmer is provided with a system that blocks the copy by pressing
it when the cut head with the blade inside is moved to the end strocke
position.
!
DON’ T use the trimmer with:
- Paper more that 90 gsm weight
- Cardboard or plastic
1) Place the copy under the transparent plate (from title block part)
until agree the drawing squaring line with the red line present in the
transparent plate (it correspond to a 5 mm trimming) and perform
the trimming.
2) Perform the fan folding.
3) Trim the copy just fan folded at the same way described in item 1).
!
MAX trimming allowed here is:
6 panels with 75 – 80 gsm weight paper
5 panels with 90 gsm weight paper
4) Perform the Cross Folding
Max trimming length
The maximum trimming length is 1260 mm; if it is needed to trim longer
copies perform the same operation more times repeating it by shifting the
copy from the left to the right until if it is necessary. Remember to get
back each time the head to the right.

Fan Folding
- Select with the key
the measure of the fan folded
panels, 210 or 190 mm

Stretch the copy on the support
-
Place the copy in parallel to the folder

Align the copy with the guides

Feed the copy with decision and wait that the folding process start. If
it is needed to fold long copies with roll 297 mm refer to the mobile
guide at the folder entry
Wait that the current folding process is over before
feed the next copy otherwise the folder will emit a
sound

Cross Folding
The copy has to be trimmed on the entry edge before perform the cross
folding as showed below:
A) Align the copy with the hatching on the folder body
B) Press the copy
C) Trim gently the copy
D) Select with the key
the cross folding
E) Take the fan folded copy with the title block up and front
F) Align the copy in comparison with the internal signs present ad the
folder entry marked with the symbols “ > < ” that correspond to
the measure 210 / 190 mm
G) That’s advisable to perform manually a bit fold to the lower in the
edge in order to help the feeding then, finally, feed (advisable with
decision ) the document.
Wait that the current folding process is over before
feed the next copy otherwise the folder will emit a
sound

Jams removals
When a jam occurs inside the folder are emitted two
sounds each 30 seconds about and the led near the reset
key flashes on the Control Panel.
Perform, firstly, the Manual Eject Procedure below described in oder to
remove the paper jammed automatically.
Manual Eject Procedure
Press the arrow key for 5-10 seconds to get out the copy, the folding
rolls will actuate to eject the paper jammed.
If the Procedure above does not work it is necessary to perform the
manual procedure.
Manual Removing
Should it is not possible remove the jam with the manual Eject Procedure
the paper has to be removed manually through the operator access areas
below showed:
Turn off the folder and
pull the left lateral door.
then operate with the
handle.
If The Jam Persist
If the alarm persists this means that there are in the folder internal path
paper strips residual; it is necessary, in this case, feed and process a large
and thick copy that, manually ejected drags with it any paper strips
residual.Proceed as explained below:
1) Check the upper folding pocket by feeding at the folder entry a large
and thik copy (exaplme an A0 folded into two panels) and press the
arrow key
advancing the copy until it is put down. Verify that with
the copy advancing get out also paper strip and clean them.
2) Check the lower folding pocket by repeating the previous operation
but this time, when the paper is visible on the back of the folder stop
pressing the key and proceed manually with the handle counter
clockwise until the copy is out. Verify that with the copy advancing get
out also paper strip and clean them.

Problem Solving
N° SYMPTOM
CAUSE
SOLUTION

Folder does not switch on.
Power source is off.

Ensure that the power cord is connected

Check the fuses on the folder power plug

At the power on the folder emits four sound
signals instead of show the folding program
on the display.
A paper jammed in the folder covers some
internal sensors
Perform the jam removing procedure described in this
manual.

The folder emits a sound when a copy id fed.
- The folder is still folding the previous copy
- The copy was not fed aligned enough
- Wait that the current folding process is over
- Repeat the feeding with a better alingment

The folder emits two beep each 30 seconds
During the folding process a copy is jammed
inside the folder.
Perform the jam removing procedure described in this
manual.

The folder often jams
Paper curled or more than 90 gsm weight
Use paper not curled and 75 – 80 – 90 gsm weight

The trimmer does not work well
- The fix blade is damaged or worn
- The mobile blade is damaged or worn
- The cut head running is not good
- Remove the fix blade and re assemble it rounded 180°
(the blade is twice sides). If it has already been used both
sides replace it (code C943041X)
- Replace the mobile blade (code C943018X)
- Clean the head running bar (this should be done once a
week)
