Safety Notes
Read these safety notes carefully before using this product to ensure that you
operate the equipment safely.
Your GERA product and recommended supplies have been designed and tested
to meet strict safety requirements. These include safety agency approval, and
compliance with established environmental standards. Please read the following
instructions carefully before operating the product and refer to them as needed to
ensure the continued safe operation of your product.
The safety and environment testing and performance of this product have been
verified using GERA materials only.
WARNING: Any unauthorized alteration, which may include the addition
of new functions or connection of external devices, may affect
the product certification. Please contact your Authorized
Local Dealer for more information.

All warning instructions marked on or supplied with the product should be
followed.

Electrical Supply
This product shall be operated from the type of electrical supply indicated on
the product's data plate label.
If you are not sure that your electrical supply meets the requirements, please
consult your local power company for advice.
WARNING:
This product must be connected to a protective grounded circuit.
This product is supplied with a plug that has a protective grounding pin. This
plug will only fit into a grounded electrical outlet. This is a safety feature. To
avoid risk of electric shock, contact your electrician to replace the electrical
outlet if you are unable to insert the plug into it. Never use a grounding adapter
plug to connect the product to an electrical outlet that lacks a grounded
connection terminal.
Operator Accessible Areas
This equipment has been designed to restrict operator access to safe areas only.
Operator access to hazardous areas is restricted with covers or guards, which
would require a tool to remove. Never remove these covers or guards.
WARNING – Electrical Safety Information

Use only the power cord supplied with this equipment.
•
Plug the power cord directly into a grounded electrical outlet. Do not use an
extension cord. If you do not know if an outlet is grounded, consult a
qualified electrician.
If this machine needs to be moved to a different location, contact a GERA
service representative or your authorized local representative or service support
organization.
•
Improper connection of the equipment-grounding conductor can result in
electrical shock.
•
Do not place this equipment where people might step or trip on the power
cord.
•
Do not place objects on the power cord.
•
Do not override or disable electrical or mechanical interlocks.

•
Do not obstruct the ventilation openings.
•
Never push objects of any kind into slots or openings on this equipment.
•
If any of the following conditions occur, switch off the power to the machine
immediately and disconnect the power cord from the electrical outlet. Call an
authorized local service representative to correct the problem.

The equipment emits an unusual noise or odour.
−
The power cord is damaged or frayed.
−
A wall panel circuit breaker, fuse, or other safety device has been tripped.
−
Liquid is spilled into the folder.
−
The equipment is exposed to water.
−
Any part of the equipment is damaged.
Disconnect Device
The power cable is the disconnect device for this equipment. It is attached to the
back of the machine as a plug-in device. To remove all electrical power from
the equipment, disconnect the power cable from the electrical outlet.
Operational Safety Information
To ensure the continued safe operation of your GERA equipment, follow these
safety guidelines at all times.
Do these:
•
Always connect equipment to a correctly grounded power outlet. If in doubt,
have the outlet checked by a qualified electrician.
•
This equipment must be connected to a protective grounded circuit. This

Always use materials and supplies specifically designed for your GERA
equipment. Use of unsuitable materials may result in poor performance.
•
Always unplug this equipment from the electrical outlet before cleaning.
Do not Do these:
•
Never use a plug that lacks a grounded connection terminal to connect the
product to an electrical outlet.
•
Never attempt any maintenance function that is not specifically described in
this documentation.
•
This equipment should not be placed in a built-in installation unless proper
ventilation is provided. Please contact your Authorized Local Dealer for further
information.
•
Never remove covers or guards that are fastened with screws. There are no
operator serviceable areas within these covers.
•
Never locate the equipment near a radiator or any other heat source.
•
Never push objects of any kind into the ventilation openings.
•
Never override or “cheat” any of the electrical or mechanical interlock devices.
•
Never operate the equipment if you notice unusual noises or odors. Disconnect
the power cord from the electrical outlet and contact your local Service
Provider immediately.

Radio Frequency Emissions
This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a class A
digital device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules and EN 55022 standard for
EMC rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against
harmful interference when the equipment is operated in a commercial
environment. This equipment generates, uses, and can radiate radio frequency
energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instruction manual,
may cause harmful interference to radio communications. Operation of this
equipment in a residential area is likely to cause harmful interference, in which
case the user will be required to correct the interference at his own expense.
Changes and modifications to this equipment not specifically approved by
GERA void the user’s authority to operate this equipment.

Directive WEEE 2002/96/CEE
This symbol means the need to dispose the product according
to the law in force in the own country.
Before dispose the GERA product, mind that it contains lead
and other materials that could require specific procedures for
the disposing. The lead quantity is fully compliant with the
international in force when the product was put on the market

General Note
Below are some terms and concepts that help to better understand the operation
of the folder.
Fold package dimension
(a) longitudinal fold section
This is the length of the panel fan folded.
(b) cross fold section
this is the length of the panel cross folded
(c) Front panel with title block
(m) Margin
Area for eventual punching for archiving

Paper specification
The folder is designed to work with plain paper 18-20lbs (75-90 gsm) If the
quality paper is different from these specifications this leads a poor quality and
increases a folding jams.
All types of paper different from the common must not be folded.
Mylar or polyester film must not enter the folder as they can also cause jams and
damage to the folder itself.
Floor specification
The folder must be installed on a flat and hard floor not on a soft floor as carpet
or linoleum
Folder Version
The Baby Fold Off line folder is available for table installation or with stand for
floor installation

Control Panel
The Baby Fold control panel contains two buttons and
two indicator lights.
The red light shows a fault as a jam or the machine busy,
while the green light show the program's current folder.
If the red LED lit off and green LED is on,
the arrow key allows you to select the
folder program and every time you press
the program is changed.
If the red LED lit on, the arrow key
performs the manual eject procedure, this
eject the jammed paper through the folding
rollers.
If the red LED is on and the arrow key do
not work for ejection procedure, it means
that all sensors are covered by paper. It’s
necessary to uncover one of sensor to
enable the ejection procedure

Fan Folding Procedure

Stretch the copy on the table and
align to left side

Cross Folding Procedure
-
Be sure that the copy is flatted enough
before feeding.

Feed the copy slowly and ensure that
the introducing sensors are covered S3
and S0
-
Ensure that title block is face down leading
-
Use the extractable support during cross
fold procedure to avoid a wrinkled cross
folded copy

Fold long plots
To fold long plot introduce the copy and keep aligned the copy during the fold
process, when the folder reach the panels 19 will eject 2 times dimension of the
fan fold dimension and a second panel of 40mm, this will enable to purge the
first copy package and start again the fold process for another 20 panels
module. When copy is completed by hand perform panel 19 and 20
Jams removals
When a jam occurs inside the folder, the red LED is
lit on and the folder emit a sound alarm to alert the
operator that it’s necessary to release the folder from
jam before continue to fold
Before to perform the Automatic Eject Procedure, try to pull back the paper
manually from the bridge.
Automatic Eject Procedure
Press the arrow key for 5-10 seconds to get out the copy, the folding rolls will
actuate to eject the paper jammed.
If the Procedure above does not work it is necessary to perform the manual
procedure.
Warning
1. Most Users do not follow the quick guide reference and introduce plot lead
edge curled or not trimmed 90° degrees, damaged and or miss the plot feed
by pulling media back this may cause a difficult paper jam not clearable by
user and requires a engineer service call.
2. Automatic jam removal procedure instead to release folder from jam it can
increase jam. So users must turn off folder, try to pull out paper from
entrance if it not possible then it’s necessary a service call intervention.

Problem Solving

- Paper lead edge curled and 1

The folder emits a sound when a copy is feed.
- The folder is still folding the previous copy
- The copy was not cover S3 introducing sensor
- Wait that the current folding process is over
- Check the folding program plot length too short if A4
or A size select P4

Copy package not correct
- Program P4 with steady or flash led require
exact plot length
- Copy fold package tolerance is ± 1mm
- 20 or 25mm margin tolerance is ± 3mm
- Example 3times 9=297mm or 8 times 105mm=840mm

The folder often jams
- Paper curled or more than 90 gsm weight
- Wrong Fan folding Program
- Use paper not curled and 75 – 80 – 90 gsm weight
- Do not select P3 flashing for fan folding

Folder at switch on, Motor runs immediately
- Sensor S0 is damaged or active
- Remove paper under sensor S0 , press reset and off and
on then folder. If problem persist open a service call .

The arrow key do not eject paper jammed
from folder
- All sensors are covered
- Remove paper from one of sensor and than do the
manual ejection

Folder beeps every 4 seconds and lit on red
