WARNING.

Read and understand all instructions.

Failure to follow all instructions listed below may result

in fire and/or serious injury.

Save these instructions
1) Work area
a) Keep work area clean and well lit. Cluttered and dark

areas invite accidents.

b) Do not operate power tools in explosive

atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable

liquids, gases, or dust

. Power tools create sparks which

may ignite the dust or fumes.

c) Keep children and bystanders away while operating a

power tool.

Distractions can cause you to lose control.

2) Personal safety
a) Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use

common sense when operating a power tool.

not use a power tool while you are tired or under the

influence of drugs, alcohol, or medication. A moment

of inattention while operating power tools may result in

serious personal injury.

b) Use safety equipment. Always wear eye protection.

Safety equipment such as a dust mask, non-skid

safety shoes, hard hat, or hearing protection used for

appropriate conditions will reduce personal injuries.

c) Remove any adjusting key or wrench before turning

the tool on.

A wrench or a key that is left attached to

a rotating part of the power tool may result in personal

injury.

d) Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance

at all times.

This enables better control of the power tool

in unexpected situations.

e) Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or

jewellery.

Keep your hair, clothing and gloves away from

moving parts. Loose clothes, jewellery or long hair can be

caught in moving parts.

f) If devices are provided for the connection of dust

extraction and collection facilities ensure that these

are connected and properly used.

Use of these

devices can reduce dust-related hazards.

3) Power tool use and care
a) Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power

tool for your application.

The correct power tool will

do the job better and safer at the rate for which it was

designed.

b) Do not use the power tool if the switch does not turn

it on and off

. Any power tool that cannot be controlled

with the switch is dangerous and must be repaired.

c) Turn tool off completely before making any

adjustments, changing accessories, or storing power

tools.

Such preventive safety measures reduce the risk

of starting the power tool accidentally.

d) Store idle power tools out of the reach of children

and do not allow persons unfamiliar with the power

tool or these instructions to operate the power tool.

Power tools are dangerous in the hands of untrained

users.

e) Maintain power tools. Check for misalignment or

binding of moving parts, breakage of parts and any

other condition that may affect the power tool’s

operation.

If damaged, have the power tool repaired

before use. Many accidents are caused by poorly

maintained power tools.

f) Keep cutting tools sharp and clean.

Properly maintained cutting tools with sharp cutting edges

are less likely to bind and are easier to control.

g) Use the power tool, accessories and tool bits etc.,

In accordance with these instructions and in the

manner intended for the particular type of power

tool, taking into account the working conditions

and the work to be performed.

Use of the power tool

for operations different from intended could result in a

hazardous situation.

4) Service
a) Have your power tool serviced by a qualified repair

personnel using only identical replacement parts

This will ensure that the safety of the power tool is

maintained.

Additional safety rules for electric

chain saws

Note.

For safety reasons the electric chain saw is shipped

with the chain brake fully engaged. This brake must be

released before the saw becomes operational.

•

Never cut into the ground.

•

Never cut into wire fences.

•

Never cut into saplings.

•

Never cut into prepared wood.

•

Use the Chainsaw to cut only wood.

•

Remove the plug from the mains immediately if the

supply cable is damaged or cut.

•

Use the bar cover when moving the electric chain saw

away from the working site.

•

During transport the brake must be applied to avoid

accidental start-up.

•

Make sure the tool is disconnected when checking,

tightening, changing or cleaning the chain.

•

Always disconnect the electric chain saw when not in

use, to avoid damage to third persons.

•

Do not expose the electric chain saw to rain or windy

conditions or in poor light.

•

Find a suitable position before beginning work.

•

When working on slopes, the saw operator must stand

beside or above the wood to cut, i.e. felled trees.

•

Use the electric chain saw holding it firmly with both

hands.

•

Make a wedge-shaped cut before felling the tree, then

the felling cut leaving a hinge for the felling direction.

•

Beware of any falling branches after felling operations.

•

Beware of wood splinters when cutting chopped wood.

•

Ensure your chain saw is suitable for the job.

•

Never work above shoulder level or reach out to cut a

branch: ensure you have stable footing at all times.

•

It is advisable to provide a support for the electric chain

saw when cutting branches. Do not cut using the bar

point and beware of branches under tension.

•

Children under 18 must not use electric chain saws.

•

The machine must not work in an explosive environment.

•

Keep people away from the electric chain saw when

in use.

•

Check the following conditions before beginning work:

•

There should be no people in the felling area.

•

Make sure there is a second person within calling

distance.

•

The working area should be free from obstacles.

•

Wear suitable clothes which do not hinder movement.

•

Use specific protections during operations involving head,

hands, feet, eyes and ears.

•

It is recommended the use of a helmet with a visor during

felling, branch cutting and chopping operations.

•

Wear gloves with an external protection when using the

electric chain saw.

•

Use ear protection to prevent hearing injuries.

•

Wear safety boots when using the electric chainsaw.

Additional safety rules for pole trimmers

For your own safety, please note the included general safety

information, and please also note these additional advices:

•

Always wear a helmet and safety gloves when working

with the pole saw.

•

We also recommend strongly wearing eye protection to

keep oil spray and sawdust out of your eyes.

•

Never use the pole saw while standing on a ladder.

•

Do not use the electric pole saw in rain.

•

Do not stand under the branch you are cutting. Branches

may fall without warning. Work at an angle of no more

than 60°.

•

Keep in mind that, when using the upper point of the saw,

the pole saw may kick back quite violently.

•

Keep your eyes not only on the branches you are cutting,

also keep an eve on the ground to prevent tripping over

branches that already have fallen.

•

Always wear gloves when handling the saw chain.

Danger!

BEWARE OF KICKBACK!
WARNING!

Kickback can lead to dangerous loss of control

of the chainsaw and result in serious or fatal injury to the

saw operator or to anyone standing close by. Always be

alert. Rotational kickback and pinch kickback are major

chainsaw operational dangers and the leading cause of

most accidents.

General notes

The pruner is a rugged, powerful device, but you should

nevertheless note a few words of advice. Always make sure

that there is enough oil in the oil tank.
The chain should always be well-oiled, if necessary soak

the chain in biodegradable chainsaw oil before starting

work. While using the pruner make sure that the chain is

always well-soaked in oil. If this is not the case manually oil

the chain.
Make sure that the oil level does not drop under the

minimum mark. Some light smoking is inevitable and no

reason for concern. Lift off the black plastic cover after every

use and clean the area under it. Also clean the pinhole in

the oil container lid after each use. Keep the groove in the

guide bar clean at all times.
If the unit fails to oil the chain properly it may well be that

the groove is full of saw dust and bark shavings. Remove

the chain and clean out the groove with a suitable tool or

blow it out with compressed air. To keep the unit at top

performance the chain must be sharp.
If you notice that the unit’s performance is not as it should

be and the chain does not eat into the wood by itself, the

chain should be sharpened. Either use the saw chain

sharpener or have the chain sharpened by a professional.

When the chain is ground down to the wear mark it should

be replaced. Saw chains are available in sets of two and

one drive sprocket. The drive sprocket should be changed

after every second chain.

Unpacking

Due to modern mass production techniques, it is unlikely

that your 909 Power Tool is faulty or that a part is missing.

If you find anything wrong, do not operate the tool until the

parts have been replaced or the fault has been rectified.

Failure to do so could result in serious personal injury.

Assembly

This product has been shipped partially assembled.
1. Carefully remove the items from the box. Make sure that

all items listed in the packing list are include.

2. Inspect the product carefully to make sure no breakage

or damage occurred during shipping

3. Do not discard the packing material until you have

carefully inspected and satisfactorily operated the tool.

Do not operate the tool until any faulty parts have been

replaced or the fault has been rectified. Failure to do so

could result in serious personal injury.

WARNING:

Always ensure the secondary handle is fitted to

the shaft whenever you operate this tool.

Assemble the chain and chain bar

1. Remove the chain drive cover screw (17) with the double

ended wrench (13) and remove the chain drive cover.

2. Fully loosen the chain

tensioning screw

3. Place the chain (24) with

the chain links in the

direction shown around

the guide bar.

4. Loop the chain around the

drive sprocket wheel (21).

4. Place the guide bar (10) in position over the threaded

stud with the chain tensioning pin (23), in the hole in the

guide bar.

5. Fit the chain drive cover and fasten the nut, finger tight.

6. Tighten the chain tensioner screw (16) until the links of

the chain just touch the bottom edge of the guide bar.

7 tighten the nut with spanner.

8. Check that the chain can be smoothly pulled around the

guide bar by hand and that it maintains contact with the

guide bar, top and bottom. To check tension, rotate the

chain to its tightest condition then suspend a 0.9kg weight

from the chain at the mid point of the underside of the

bar. The maximum distance between the driving links and

the bar should be 6.5mm.

Note.

Ensure the unit is unplugged when making any

adjustments to the chain and bar.

CAUTION.

A new chain will stretch after just a few minutes

of use. Check and, if necessary, re-adjust the chain tension.

A loose chain causes rapid wear to both the chain and the

guide bar and could derail causing a major safety hazard.

Connecting the drive head to the motor

The drive needs to be connected to the motor prior to use.
1. Locate the drive head over the motor drive shaft, and

rotate until screw hole align.

2. Use the screw and dished washer to tighten the drive

head to the motor.

Adjusting pole length

1. Lift the knob on the

coupler.

2. Pull the lower shaft till it in

a comfortable position.

3. Tighten the knob securely.

Adjusting the

shoulder strap

Adjust the shoulder strap so

that it is comfortable in use.

Adding chain oil

WARNING.

Never start work unless the chain and bar are

lubricated.
1. Place the chainsaw on its side with the oil cap facing up.

Untwist and remove the oil tank cap (18).

2. Fill the tank to 80% capacity with chain oil.

3. Fasten the cap and wipe up any oil spillage.

Starting and stopping the pruner

1. To start the tool: press the lock button (3) and then press

the trigger (2). Release the lock button once the motor

has started.

2. To stop the trimmer: Release the trigger.

WARNING:

Do not connect to power supply until assembly

is complete, Failure to comply could result in accidental

starting and possible serious personal injury.

Changing of the saw chain

ATTENTION:

Always pull the power plug before

undertaking any maintenance work.
The saw chain is full of sharp edges. When handling it you

should always wear gloves.
1. Slacken the chain until it

hangs loose by inserting

the included combination

tool into the head screw of

the chain tensioner.

2. Turn the screw counter-

clockwise until the chain is

very loose.

3. Remove the chain bar

cover. Unscrew the hex

nut, and take out the

spring washer. Take off the plastic cover (14).

4. Lift chain and guide

bar off the unit. After

dismounting guide bar

and chain lift the chain off

the guide bar and set the

chain aside.

Important Notes:

5. Clean oil and saw dust out of the area under the plastic

cover with a brush or blow it out with compressed air. Be

especially sure to clean out the oil duct.

6. Clean the groove of the guide bar with a suitable tool

of blow it out with compressed air. Take special care to

clean the oil ducts in the guide bar. Inspect the chain

guides for wear and if necessary carefully smooth them

with a file and emery cloth. If the guide bar is at some

point worn beyond repair it must be replaced with a new

one.

7. Place the chain (24) with the chain links in the direction

shown around the guide bar.

8. Loop the chain around the drive sprocket wheel (21).

9. Place the guide bar (10) in position over the threaded

stud with the chain tensioning pin (23), in the hole in the

guide bar.

10. Fit the chain drive cover and fasten the nut, finger tight.

11. Tighten the chain tensioner screw (23) until the links of

the chain just touch the bottom edge of the guide bar.

12 Tighten the nut with spanner.

13. Check that the chain

can be smoothly pulled

around the guide bar

by hand and that it

maintains contact

with the guide bar, top

and bottom. To check

tension, rotate the chain

to its tightest condition

then suspend a 0.9kg

weight from the chain

at the mid point of the

underside of the bar.

The maximum distance

between the driving links

and the bar should be

6.5mm.

Note.

Ensure the unit is

unplugged when making

any adjustments to the chain

and bar.

CAUTION.

Chain tension

The chain should not be too

loose, but you should be

able to lift it off the guide bar

a few millimetres. Use the

chain tensioner to tension

the chain.
Always pull the power plug

before undertaking any

maintenance work. The allen

head screw of the chain

tensioner is at the front of the pole saw’s hear next to the

guide bar. Turning it clockwise tightens the chain, turning it

counter-clockwise slackens the chain. Beware of the sharp

edges of the saw chain.

Working with the pruner

Do not work with an angle higher than 60°. The pole saw

will work under higher degrees, but there is the danger of

being injured by branches falling without warning.
Keep an eye at the ground while working to avoid tripping

over fallen branches.
Never use the pole saw without oil, use biodegradable

chainsaw oil.
To operate the pruner push forward the safety switch and

then pull the switch.
The pruner is equipped with a low-kickback chain and it was

also done everything from an engineering point of view to

keep kickback low. Nevertheless, some kickback can not

be avoided when cutting with the upper tip of the blade. Be

prepared for some kickback when using this area of the

blade or hitting another branch with this area. Always hold

the unit firmly in both hands.
Thin branches can be cut off with one single cut. To prevent

the branch from slivering and buckling the branch should be

cut off in several pieces.
When cutting off lager branches, you should first cut into

the branch form below. First cut into the branch from below

outside the place where you intend to cut off the branch.

The cut should go from one third to halfway through the

branch. This prevents the branch from buckling when you

cut into the branch from the top outside the first cut. Last cut

off the stump with one clean cut. You might want to seal the

cut with a suitable compound.

Chain sharpening and maintenance

WARNING.

Always ensure that the tool is switched

off and the plug is removed from the power point before

making any adjustments or maintenance procedures.
The chain requires sharpening when the chain saw does

not cut appropriately, this operation is performed as follows.
1. Extend the chain bar.
2. Fix the bar in a vice so that the chain can slide.

3. Fit the file in a file holder (not included) and place it over

the tooth at 35°.

4. File forward only until all the worn part of the tooth has

been eliminated.

5. Count the file movements made on the first tooth and do

the same on all the others, both right and left.

6. After some sharpening the delimiting device on the

chain will exceed the height of the cutting teeth, file the

exceeding part by means of a flat file to round off the

depth delimiting device.

7. Ensure that the chain is replaced before stretching to

exceed the maximum adjustment of the chain saw bar.

8. ‘Deep’ Filing should be performed with an electric file. We

advise to use a service centre to perform this operation.

9. Ensure that the chain slides smoothly over the bar when

pulled with hands. Periodically sharpen chain and check

the chain tension.

10. Bars with sprockets need frequent greasing which can

be performed as follows:

•

Fill a syringe or similar device with grease for bearings.

•

Each time the saw is used grease through the hole

provided near the bar tip until the grease penetrated onto

the tip.

•

After 3 times of sharpening the chain your self have it

professionally sharpened. This will ensure that all the

teeth are even.

To avoid damage to the motor, do not keep the chain saw

running if the chain is lodged in the wood.

Chainsaw maintenance

WARNING.

Always ensure that the tool is switched

off and the plug is removed from the power point before

making any adjustments or maintenance procedures.

•

Always keep the air holes clean on the electric chain saw

body. They tend to become clogged with sawdust during

use and this affects the efficiency of cooling, causing

overheating of the motor the other fundamental parts of

the electric chain saw.

•

Do not operate the chainsaw with the air intake on the

ground as this will draw foreign particles into the motor

area and damage the windings of the motor.

•

Regularly check to see if any dust or foreign matter has

entered the grills near the motor and around the on/off

switch. Use a soft brush to remove any accumulated

dust. Wear safety glasses to protect your eyes whilst

cleaning.

•

If the body of the tool needs cleaning, wipe it with a soft

damp cloth. A mild detergent can be used but nothing like

alcohol, petrol or other cleaning agent.

•

Never use caustic agents to clean plastic parts.

•

Turn the bar periodically to use both the sides so that

it wears evenly.

•

It is essential that motor cooling vents are kept free from

a build-up of sawdust and this decreases the engines

tools cooling capacity and causes overheating damage to

the motor as well as other important equipment, oil pump

etc. It is recommended that this is carried out after every

use.

•

Clean the guide and oil holes periodically.

•

Deburr the race sides periodically with a flat file. Time

may cause any “Burrs” to detach and damage the bar.

•

The bar needs to be evened with a flat file if one of the

races is higher than another and then smoothed with a

file and fine sandpaper. If races are considerably worn,

check that the height is always greater than the chains

transmission links so that the latter do not touch the

bottom. Replace the bar if this should occur.

The chainsaw should be periodically serviced to check the

correct operation of the chain, chain drive, motor and brake.

CAUTION.

Water must never come into contact with

the tool.

First time user

If you are not familiar with chain saws and the felling

of trees, it is recommended that you obtain informed

instructions in addition to reading this manual fully. We also

recommend as a minimum that you practice cutting logs on

a saw-horse or log cradle.

General inspection

Regularly check that all the fixing screws are tight.

They may vibrate loose over time.

Power cord maintenance

If the supply cord needs replacing, the task must be carried

out by the manufacturer, the manufacturer’s agent, or an

authorised service centre in order to avoid a safety hazard.

Storage

•

Clean the electric chain saw with a dry cloth, do not use

aggressive cleaning fluids.

•

Replace the electric chain saw blade cover and store in

a dry place. Do not store in hot, dry boiler rooms or other

damp places.

If you do not intent to use the pruner for some time, e.g.

over the winter, the biodegradable chainsaw oil must be

drained from the oil tank and the oil ducts, because it will

gum. Pour remaining oil out of the oil tank and store it in

a dark, cool place. Pour a spoonful of mineral oil into the

oil tank. Spray penetrating lubricant on the chain and let

the saw run for a few moments to spread the mineral oil

through the oil pump and the oil ducts. When using the pole

saw again liberally apply chainsaw oil.

Repairs

Repairs beyond those described above, should only be

undertaken by trained personal. Should a malfunction occur

do not use the unit any further and do not attempt to repair

it yourself. Contact 909 Customer Support or have the unit

repaired by a professional.
