Overview Überblick
This section introduces part of the safety precautions that should be followed during the installation
and maintenance of the MSR 20, 30 & 50 Router Families.
Dieser Abschnitt stellt Ihnen die Sicherheitsanweisungen vor, die während der Installation und der
Instandhaltung der MSR (Multiple Service Router) 20, 30 & 50 Routerfamilien beachtet werden
sollen.
Note:
Before any operation is performed, please read the operation instructions and precautions carefully to minimize the
possibility of accidents. The
Note, Caution, Warning and Danger
items in other manuals do not cover all safety
precautions that should be followed. They are only the supplements to the safety precautions for operations as a whole.
Therefore, the personnel in charge of the installation and maintenance of the products are required to understand these
basics of safety operation.
In performing various operations, please follow the local safety regulations. The safety precautions introduced in the
product manuals are supplementary and subject to the local safety regulations.
When various operations are executed on the products, the precautions and special safety instructions provided must
be followed to the full.
The personnel in charge of the installation and maintenance of the products must be trained as to r the proper operating
methods and all safety precautions. Only the trained and qualified personnel can perform operations such as equipment
installation and maintenance.

Das für die Installation und Instandhaltung der Produkte verantwortliche Personal muss ausgebildet werden, um alle
Sicherheitsanweisungen zu kennen und die richtigen Arbeitsmethoden anwenden zu können. Nur ausgebildetes und

The symbols in this manual are shown in the following table. They are used to remind the reader
of the safety precautions during equipment installation and maintenance.

When a module is fitted to your switch, the 2 captive thumbscrews
securing the module must be tightened with a suitable tool. Keep the blanking plate
and the fixings in a safe place. If you remove the module at any time, you must then
replace the blanking plate.

Connecting a Redundant Power Supply
Verbindung eines überflüssigen Energie Systems (RPS-Redundant Power Systems )
You can connect a redundant power system (RPS) to some of the MSR family of routers. The RPS
is designed to maintain power to the router if a power supply failure occurs.
Ein überflüssigen Energie System (ÜES) kann an einige MSR Familie des Routers anschliessen
werden . ÜES ist so entworfen, um den Strom des Routers aufrechtzuerhalten wenn ein Ausfall
der Stromversorgung auftritt.
WARNING:
Before you connect the router to an RPS, please refer to the Getting
Started Guide supplied with your router.

Electrostatic Discharge:
Caution:
The electrostatic (static electricity) generated by human body may damage the electrostatic-sensitive components on
the circuit board, such as large-scale integrated (LSI) circuits.
The human body moving, friction on clothes, friction between shoes and the ground, holding
ordinary plastic with hands, will generate a static electricity field that will remain with the human
body for a long time.
Before touching the equipment, handling circuit boards or ASICs, a grounded electrostatic
discharge (ESD) wrist strap should be worn to prevent the sensitive components from being
damage by the electrostatic in human body.
