Introduction
Overview
This digital police enforcement DVR provides the officer with state of the
art capabilities such as high-definition digital video recording, still image
capture capabilities, high-speed USB data transmission and USB charging.

Thank you for purchasing the 10-8 BC-1 Body Camera. To prevent any

reading this User Manual carefully before using the device.

IMPORTANT!
READ THIS FIRST
Before using your new BC-1 Body Camera for the first time, we
recommend performing the following steps to maximize the usability of
your new BC-1 Body Camera.
Body Camera Setup
1. Charge the BC-1 Body Camera using the 120 Volt, 12 Volt or USB
cable.
See
Charging the Battery
section for details.
2. Download and install the BC-1 Body Camera software from the 10-8
Video Website:
http://www.10-8video.com/support/downloads/
3. If the software is not already running, launch the BC-1 Body Camera
software.
4. Enter the user name and password to log into the software.
5. Plug the included USB cable into your computer, then plug the other
end of the cable into the BC-1 Body Camera.
6. The BC-1 Body Camera will automatically synchronize its internal
clock to the date and time on the computer to which it is connected.
7. The LCD Display on the BC-1 Body Camera will display four (4)
asterisks (*) indicating it is waiting for you to enter the password
to access the internals of the device.
The default password for the
camera is 0000
- four zeros.
8. Use the BC-1 Body Camera to set the proper badge number for the
officer who is to use the camera. The BC-1 Software allows you to set
both the unit and user ID for each unit used. This information will
display on every video along with the date and time.
9. We also recommend changing the password at this point.
If you connect the BC-1 Body Camera to a computer and do not
enter the proper password, it will only charge its battery and you
cannot access the camera’s internal files.
For maximum security of your files, we recommend changing the
default password after setting up the BC-1 Body Camera for the
first time.

Note:
You can also press the Play button four (4) times to
advance through the password screen without having to
change the password.

Power On:
1. Press and hold the “
Power” button
until the device beeps.
2. The
LED Status Indicator
will light up green and the
LCD screen
will
display the 10-8 Video logo.
3. After a few minutes of inactivity, the system will then enter into
recording standby mode
and the L
ED Status Indicator
will remain lit
green.
4. The
LCD screen
will display the currently recording interface and
your body camera is ready to use.
Power Off:
1. Press and hold the “Power” button for at least three seconds.
2. The current file will be saved to the internal storage and the device
will power down.
When the recorder is in
standby mode
if there is no interaction
with it for more than thirty (30) seconds the
LCD screen
will turn
off.
The recorder will automatically power off when the battery is low.

Video Recording Mode

and begin to record. It will save a file every 10 minutes.

If lighting is insufficient, the recorder will automatically enable
Night Mode
and the IR LED. It will automatically return to the
normal recording mode when lighting conditions improve.

Operation
Charging the Battery
There are three ways to charge your 10-8 BC-1 Body Camera:
• 120 Volt Charger (Fastest Charge Rate)
• 12 Volt car charger (Fast)
• USB cable connected to a powered USB computer port (Slow)
Charging Battery with USB Cable
1. Connect a USB cable with a compatible connector to a computer.
2. Connect the USB cable to the USB port on the body camera.

buttons to reset the BC-1
Body Camera to its factory defaults.
Changing BC-1 Body Camera Password
The BC-1 Body Camera has its own internal password, or PIN, that
protects its files from being accessed by a computer without permission.
Changing BC-1 Body Camera PIN
1. Connect the BC-1 Body Camera to a computer using the USB cable.
2. Create a file
“UK.txt”
on your computer with a text editor such as
Notepad. Do not use a word processor such as Microsoft Word. It will
introduce data that will corrupt the file.
3. Add the following line to the first line of the file:
UK 0000 1111
In this example we have set the PIN to “1111”, feel free to set it to any
four (4) digit number.
4. Save the file to the root folder of the BC-1 Body Camera.
5. Disconnect and restart the BC-1 Body Camera.
During charging the
LED Status Indicator
will light up red, the LCD
screen will display “MSDC” and the battery icon. After 10 seconds the BC-1
Body Camera will enable the screensaver for the LCD. Press any button on
the BC-1 Body Camera to exit the screensaver.
When the battery is fully charged, the red
LED Status Indicator
will turn
off and the battery status icon will display the “Fully Charged” icon.

A new, or completely drained BC-1 Body Camera battery can
take 6-8 hours to charge fully.
Operation
Caution: Do not perform a Factory Reset while recording or while
the device is connected to a computer. Doing so may cause file
corruption and/or damage the internal memory.

Software
Using the Software
It’s advisable to always start the software before plugging the BC-1 Body
Camera into your computer.
1. Start the BC-1 Body Camera software.
2. Enter your software user id and software password to log in.
3. Plug the BC-1 Body Camera into your computer using the supplied
USB cable.
4. Once the computer detects that the BC-1 Body Camera has been
connected to it, the BC-1 Body Camera LCD screen will display a
screen prompting you to enter the security pin.
5. Use the
“Selection” button
on the BC-1 Body Camera to cycle through
the numbers zero through nine (0-9) in the first column.
6. Once you have cycled through to the proper first number in the PIN,
use the
“Play” button
to move to the next digit.
7. After you have set the last number in the PIN, clicking the “Play”
button to select that digit will submit the PIN for verification.
8. If you have entered the proper PIN on the BC-1 Body Camera, the
LCD screen will display “MSDC” for a few seconds then turn off.
9. The software will then display the folders and files located on the
BC-1 Body Camera.
Managing Files
The left column of the BC-1 Body Camera software displays the folders
and files contained on the device. Use the upper section of the left column
to navigate through the various folders on the BC-1 Body Camera storage
media.
Viewing a File
1. Click once on the filename of the file you wish to view.
2. Click the
“Open” button
at the bottom of the left column.
3. Once loaded, the file will display in the big window on the right.
Deleting a File
You must have administrative privileges to delete files.
1. Click once on the file you wish to delete.
2. Click the
“Delete” button
at the bottom of the left column.
3. Confirm the deletion within the popup window.
Default Administrator Login:
User: 0000
Password: 000
Default BC-1 Body Camera PIN:
0000
If this is the first time you have connected the BC-1 Body
Camera to this computer, you may have to wait for your
computer to automatically install the proper drivers.
You can also double-click any filename to load that file in the
viewer.

Copying a File to Your Computer
1. Click once on the file you wish to copy.
2. Click the
“Copy” button
at the bottom of the left column.
3. A pop up window will appear. Select the location where you wish to
save the file.
4. Click the
“Save” button
.
Changing Your Software Password
1. Click on the
“Change Password” icon
at the top of the window.
2. Enter your current or “old” password.
3. Enter your desired new password - twice.
4. Click the
“Ok” button
.
Administrating Software User Accounts
The following features are only available to an user account possessing an
Administrator account level.
Creating a New Software User Account
1. Click on the
“User Management” icon
located at the top of the
window.
2. Click on the
“New” button
in the user management popup window.
3. Enter the Account # / Officer ID.
4. Fill out the user’s name, password and select which account level they
should have assigned to them.
5. Unless you have a reason to disable the account you should leave the
account enabled.
6. Click the
“Ok” button
to save the new user’s account.
Editing a Software User Account
1. Click on the
“User Management” icon
located at the top of the
window.
2. Click on the name of the account you wish to edit.
3. Click on the
“Edit” button
.
4. Update information as desired.
5. Click on
“Ok” button
to save the changes.
User Account Permissions
There are two levels of access to the BC-1 Body Camera software -
“Normal” and “Administrator”.
Administrators can:
• View, copy and delete files and directories.
• Manage accounts - create, edit & delete.
• Set Officer ID and Device ID for the currently connected BC-1 Body
Camera.
Normal Users Can:
• View files

Deleting a Software User Account
1. Click on the
“User Management” icon
located at the top of the
window.
2. Click on the name of the account you wish to delete.
3. Click on the
“Delete” button
.
4. Confirm account deletion or cancel the request.
Setting the BC-1 Body Camera Device ID
1. Ensure the BC-1 Body Camera is connected to a computer running the
BC-1 Body Camera software and the software can see the BC-1 Body
Camera.
2. Click on the “Device ID” icon at the top of the software window.
3. Enter the new number desired. Note: the Device ID must be five (5)
digits long.
4. Click the
“Ok” button
to save the new ID.
Setting the BC-1 Body Camera Officer ID
1. Ensure the BC-1 Body Camera is connected to a computer running the
BC-1 Body Camera software and the software can see the BC-1 Body
Camera.
2. Click on the “Officer ID” icon at the top of the software window.
3. Enter the new number desired. Note: the Officer ID must be six (6)
digits long. Use preceding zeros if needed: 000123.
4. Click the
“Ok” button
to save the new ID.
Backing Up Files
The BC-1 Body Camera software allows you to easily copy all the files
currently stored on it to your computer.
1. Ensure the BC-1 Body Camera is connected to a computer running the
BC-1 Body Camera software and the software can see the BC-1 Body
Camera.
2. Click on the
“Backup” icon
.
3. Confirm the folder on your computer to back the files up to or use the
“Browse” button
to select the proper folder.
4. Select whether to overwrite or skip copying a file if an existing
filename already exists in your currently selected folder.
5. Click the
“Backup” button
to begin the backup process.
6. Files will be saved to your computer and folders will automatically be
created for each day media was taken.
7. Types of media will be further sorted into sub-folders under each date
designating the media type contained within.
8. When the backup process is complete, click the
“Close” button
or use
the
“View Backup Directory” link
to immediately view the files just
created on your computer.

(LED lights and LCD screen) indicators to inform you of the status and
health of the device. Refer to the charts below for more information.
