Miter Saw Stand

 

 

Operator’s Manual               GMSS400W

•  Turn tool switch off and disconnect power before mounting to the stand.
•  Never stand on the product. The total weight of the saw and the workpiece 

must not exceed 400 lb.

•  This stand will accommodate the miter saws with blade diameter of 12" or 

less.

Nevertobeusedwithanymitersawswithabladediameterlargerthan12".

•  Only use the GMSS400W for the purpose described in this manual. 

Anyuseother

thanthosementionedinthismanualwillbeconsideredmisuse.Themanufacturershallnotbeliableforany
damageorinjuryresultingformsuchcasesofmisuse.

UNPACKING AND CONTENT

IMPORTANT

:

Due to modern mass production techniques, it is unlikely the tool is 

faulty or that a part is missing.  If you find anything wrong, do not use the product until 
the parts have been replaced or the fault has been rectified. Failure to do so could result 
in serious personal injury.

ASSEMBLY

INSTALLING WHEELS & RUBBER FEET (See FIG 3)
To Install Wheels

1.Placethestand'stopsurfacedownonthefloorwiththefoldedlegsonthetop.
2.Removethestraightcotterpin(G2)fromoneendoftheaxle(G).Keepthebentcotterpin(G1)inplaceonthe

otherend.

3.Insertawheelwasher(E),awheel(D),thenasecondwheelwasherontotheaxle(G)inorder.

NOTE

Make sure the concave side of the washer is facing the wheel.

4.Inserttheaxle&wheelassemblythroughthewheelholder(A5)onthestand.
5. Insertthethirdwheelwasher,awheel,andthefourthwheelwasherontotheendoftheaxle.

6.Insertthestraightcotterpin(G2)intothelockingholeontheaxle.
7.Bendthestraightcotterpin(G2)tosecurethewheelassemblyinposition.

To Install The Rubber Feet

1.Keepthestand'stopsurfacedownonthefloorwiththefoldedlegsonthetop.
2.Removethescrews(F1)andnuts(F2)fromtherubberfeetsets(F).
3.Placearubberfootononeofthepre-drilledholesintheendoppositeofthewheels.SeeFIG3.
4. Insertthescrew(F1)throughtherubberfootandpre-drilledhole.
5.Screwthenut(F2)onandtightenit.
6. Repeattheprocedures3,4&5toinstallthesecondrubberfoot.

UNFOLDING THE LEGS(See FIG 4)

1.Keepthestand'stopsurfacedownonthefloorwiththefoldedlegsonthetop.
2.Pushinaleglockingpin(A3)androtatethatleg(A4)upuntilthelockingpinclicksintoplace.
3. Repeatwiththeremaininglegs.
4.Liftthestandandplaceitinauprightposition.
5.Checkandmakesurethestandisstableandalllegshavethelockingpinengaged.

INSTALLING THE MATERIAL SUPPORTS(See FIG 5)

1.Loosenthematerialsupportlockingknob(5).
2.Slidethematerialsupport(C)throughthesquareholeontheendofextensionrail.
3. Tightenthematerialsupportlockingknobtosecure.
4. Repeattheaboveprocedurestoinstallthesecondmaterialsupport.

ATTACHING SAW TO SAW MOUNTING BRACKETS(See FIG 6)

Alwayspositionthesawtoachievethemaximumbalanceandstability.Allfourcornersofthesawmustbeboltedto
themountingbracketsbeforeuse.Makesureboltsdonotextendabovethetableofthemitersaw.
If the saw has four holes that line up with the slots in the saw mounting brackets:

1. Unplugthemitersawandlockthesawheadinthedownposition.
2. Liftonesideofthesawandplaceasawmountingbracketunderneathit.Insertthemountingboltsprovided

throughtheslotinthebracketandthroughthemitersawmountingholes,asshowninFIG6.

NOTE:

Use M6x35mm fastener set for Genesis™ GMS15LB and GMSUDR15L miter saws.  Use M8x55mm 

fastener set for other Genesis™ miter saws.
3. Secureinplaceusingaflatwasher,lockwasherandnut,inthatorder.
4. Repeatthesteps2&3toinstallthesecondbrackettotheothersideofthemitersaw.
5. Checkthatthebracketsareparalleltoeachother,thenhandtightenallfournutstoholdthesawinposition.

If the mounting holes on the saw do not line up with the slots in the saw mounting brackets:

1. Unplugthemitersawandlockthesawheadinthedownposition.
2. Mountthesawonamountingsurface(e.g.plywood)atleast1/2"thick,usingbolts,washersandnuts.
3.Drilltheholesinthemountingsurfacetomatchtheslotsinthesawmountingbrackets.
4.Proceedwithattachingproceduresaspreviouslydescribed.

MOUNTING THE MITER SAW TO THE STAND 

(

See FIG 7)

1. Liftthebracketassemblyusingthehandles(B2)onthebrackets,allowingtheassemblytotiltslightlytoward

yourbody.

2. Whilestilltitledtowardyou,hookthefrontedgeofthebracketassemblyontothefrontrailofthestand,as

showninFIG7.

WARNING:

To avoid serious personal injury, make sure the curved front edge of 

the mounting brackets are securely seated over the front rail before seating the other end 
of the brackets. Failure to do so could you to lose control of the saw mounting assembly.

3. Lowerthebracketassemblytoallowtherearedgeofthebrackettoseatfullyovertherearrail.
4.Lockthebracketsinpositionbyloweringthelockinglevers(B1).
5. Checkpositionandadjust,ifnecessary,tomakesuretheweightofthesawisevenlybalancedovertherailsas

showninFIG7.

6. Ensurethesawisfullyseatedandlockedinposition,thensecurelytightenthefournutsholdingthesawtothe

sawmountingbrackets.

To Remove Saw From Stand

1. Raisethelockingleverstounlockthesawandmountingbracketassembly.
2. Liftawayfromtherearrailofthestandtodisengage.
3.Withtheassemblytitledslightlytowardyou,liftthefrontpartoftheassemblytodisengagefromthefrontrail

ofthestand.

WARNING:

The mounting brackets are designed to fit snugly over the stand 

rails, with the locking levers in the lowered (locked) position, you should not be able to 
remove the saw and bracket assembly from the rails. If the mounting brackets will not fit 
over the rails, or if the mounting brackets can be removed from the rails when levers are 
locked, remove from the saw and bracket assembly immediately and adjust the bracket 
adjustment screw as described in the Adjustments section of this manual. Failure to heed 
this warning may result in serious personal injury. 

ADJUSTMENTS

BRACKET ADJUSTMENT SCREW (See FIG 8)

Mountingbracketsaredesignedtofitsnuglyoverthestandrails.Withthelockingleversinthelockingposition,you
shouldnotbeabletoremovethesawandbracketassemblyfromtherails.Ifthesawandbracketassemblycanbe
removedformtherailswhenleversarelocked,thebracketadjustmentscrewsneedtobetightened.Ifthesawand
bracketassemblywillnotfitoverbothrails,thebracketadjustmentscrewsneedstobeloosened.

NOTE:

 The saw should be removed from the mounting brackets before attempting to tighten or loosen the 

bracket adjustment screws.

To Adjust: 

1. Useawrenchtoslightlyloosenthenut(B3).
2. Turnthescrew(B4)withaphillipsscrewdriverclockwiseifthebracketassemblyneedstobetightened,or

counterclockwiseiftheassemblyneedstobeloosened.

3. Installthebracketonthemiterstandrailsandlowerthelockinglevertochecktheadjustment.
4.Whenthecorrectpositionisachieved,wrenchtightenthenut(B3)tosecure.
5.Repeatwiththesecondmountingbracket.

TO LEVEL STAND (See FIG 9)

Thestandisequippedwithanadjustablefootforlevelingthestand.

To Adjust: 

1. Useawrenchtoslightlyloosenthenut(A1)
2. Adjusttheheightofthefootbyturningthethreadedshaft(A2)clockwisetoraisethefootorcounter-clockwise

tolowerthefoot.

3.Retightenthenut(A1)securely.

WARNING:

To reduce the risk of injury, make sure the stand is stable and 

level before operating the saw. Choose a level area to set up the stand and adjust the 
adjustable foot so that all four legs are touching the ground. 

OPERATION

USING THE EXTENSION RAILS (See FIG 10)

Usetheextensionrails(2)whenworkingwithlargerworkpieces.

To Extend the Rails

1. Loosentheextensionlockingknob(6).
2. Extendtherail(2)tothedesiredposition.
3.Tightentheextensionlockingknob.

ADJUSTING MATERIAL SUPPORT HEIGHT (See FIG 11)

1. Loosenthematerialsupportlockingknob(5).
2.Adjusttheheightofthematerialsupport(7)soitssupportroller(3)islevelwiththetabletopsurfaceofthe

mitersaw.

3. Retightentheknob(5)andrepeatontheotherside.

WARNING:

To reduce the risk of injury, make sure the material supports are 

adjusted so that workpiece sits flat on the miter saw table. Workpieces that do not sit flat 
could cause the blade to bind during cutting. 

USING THE WORK STOPS (See FIG 11)

Raisetheworkstop(4)wheneveryouneedtomakerepetitivecutsofthesamelength.

NOTE:

 To avoid a greater risk of binding or pinching, do not use both work stops at the same time. 

To Raise the Work Stop, 

simplyjustfliptheworkstopupasshowninFIG11.

USING WHEELS TO TRANSPORT (See FIG 12)

Thewheelsmakeiteasytotransportthestandwithorwithoutsawmounted,asshowninFIG12.

1. Foldallfourlegsup,reversingtheinstructionsintheprevioussection"UnfoldingtheLegs".
2. Makesurethesawandbracketassemblyislockedsecurelyonthestandrails.
3. Lifttheendofstandbodytotransport.

WARNING:

Always using the stand body to lift. Do not use the extension rail 

or material support to lift the stand. A loosened locking knob during the transportation 
could cause serious personal injury. 

MAINTENANCE

CLEANING

Avoidusingsolventswhencleaningplasticparts.Mostplasticsaresusceptibletodamagefromvarioustypesof
commercialsolventsandmaybedamagedbytheiruse.Usecleanclothstoremovedirt,dust,oil,grease,etc.

WARNING: 

Do not at any time let brake fluids, gasoline, petroleum-based 

products, penetrating oils, etc., come in contact with plastic parts. Chemicals can 
damage, weaken or destroy plastic which may result in serious personal injury.
